Hello All,
We just got back from a road trip and about 30 minutes from home after having a dvd in for the kiddos, the touch screen failed and the deck will only function using actual buttons. To make matters worse, when I touched the dial in the upper right hand corner to check functions, the sound automatically faded to the left. So now we are left with a half working stereo. I have spent more time than I care to admit googling for anyone who has shared these same symptoms, or even how to do a hard reset. I tried disconnecting the battery with no change, pulled the fuse with no change, removed the head unit with no change and finally decided last night to pull the fuse and leave it over night. This morning I put the fuse back in and the clock just read " : ". There were no other changes.

I'd hate to go to an aftermarket stereo, and used options on ebay don't appeal to me all that much, and a new or refurb unit is $1000 plus.

Does anyone know how to really reset these units? The touch screen does not work at all so some of the resets I have seen wont work.

Thanks in advance.

Might seem crazy, but I have seen more than a few folks on here get things squared around by removing both positive and negative cables from the battery and then touch them together. Never heard of that trick until hanging out here. It’s worth a shot.

Thinking about trying that... Basically it will just drain any capacitors that store voltage, so I don't know if that "resets" the radio or not.

There's no real problem I suppose, other than a decent new head unit is around $300 and you pay another $200+ to get the harnesses to make it all keep working.

Which head unit did you go with?

Do these use the factory hands free mics?

2001 Yukon SLT
2012 Yukon Denali XL
2011 Yukon Denali RIP 5/20/18
you can but on my 2012 the factory mic sounds like you are talking down a hallway, the pioneer comes with a mic and sounds just like you on talking thru the phone perfectly I mounted it on the top of the drivers side pillar
