transfer case fluid next to cv joint , is there a seal between the 2 and how to remove it.

There is no transfer case next to a cv joint, there is a front differential & cv axle, so that would be differential fluid, there is a seal on the differential, it may require some disassembly to replace. a photo would be helpful

yes, it is the differential, that the cv joins to that is where the drip or leak is coming from. ive changed the cv axel on a 2008 xl and one assumes its very similar. then i wonder does the seal just come out of the differential housing?
