Hello Gents

So last year, I picked up a 2008 GMC Denali XL, black with Chrome, 151k, now has 160k.
This is the best damn vehicle ever. So now i would like to find a lower miles model, basically to keep for the next decade.

So the google has told me that the 2007-2008 have the L92(awesome engine), 2009 has the L9H(flex fuel, but no AFM) and the 2010 has the L94 with has flex fuel and AFM. Which i want nothing to do with.

Was there some production of the 2010 denali with the L9H? like the fall of 2009.
The reason is a found a very nice black and chrome 2010 with 80k on it.
I realize the dealership could send me a pic of the RPO codes....but I figure i would has the experts first.

Thanks,

Travis

What's the VIN?

That should be able to tell you the engine.

There were some 2010's produced with the L9H but very few in my experience. 2009 is the best year in my opinion but also hard to find because of the recession. It has the better door panels that don't break, ventilated seats, blind zone monitor, and the L9H.

Here's my understanding of what the L9H was in:

All 2009 Escalade, Yukon Denali had the L9H. Also included were the Tahoe LTZ that had the upgrade over the 5.3 as well as the Yukon XL SLT with 6.2 option.

Here's where it is tricky, for 2010
The Escalade and Yukon Denali switched to the L94 AFM motor. The Tahoe LTZ dropped the 6.2 option, BUT the Yukon XL SLT continued to have a 6.2 option for 2010 and it was STILL the L9H, which is strange. All of the trucks though continued with the L9H.

Whats wild is how much the used L9H drop out motors are going for on eBay.

Why would i pay upwards of $4000 for a used motor with almost 200k miles on it......... I can go to Texas Speed and get a 408 stoker long block for about $5500 with a forged internals

Because most buyers will not opt for a stroker. As they say, there's an ass for every seat. I've seen a lot of used vehicles I wouldn't buy even if they were half the price but people still buy them. You should see the prices on some 4 cylinder engines! When my wife and I met she was still driving an 06 Aveo that had been using coolant for years. I figured I could just throw a used engine in it for next to nothing rather then spend all the time tearing the engine down trying to find the problem. The car only had 60k miles on it and the lowest mileage engine I found at the time was 150k and they wanted over $1000 for it! The car wasn't even worth that much!
