2008 Yukon XL Denali, Too Good to be True?

I found a 2008 Denali XL with 85k on it for 15k.

It comes with tow, nav, DVD, heated steering wheel, etc etc. I think all its missing is cooled seats. Power everything.

It looks clean from the pictures, but their has to be a catch. Nada clean retail is 25k on this truck.

Accident? Lemon? Piece of junk?

It doesn't include the carfax or autocheck on the for sale page.

Update: A search on NICB shoes that about a year ago it was in an accident and it is a Salvaged title.

Sounds like it is too good to be true. They didn't offer cooled seats in that year so it sounds like it has every option

Comes up as salvaged title. Would be very hard to secure a loan or to probably even get it insured, I would assume.

Comes up as salvaged title. Would be very hard to secure a loan or to probably even get it insured, I would assume.

You can get it insured without any trouble, its just resale takes a dump with the salvage or rebuilt title. Plus, who knows what kind of damage it suffered and who/how it was repaired.

That's what I was thinking. You have to sustain quite a bit of damage on a full framed vehicle to be totaled. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it was 80% of the vehicle's value in repairs to total a vehicle.

Someone bought it back from the insurance company and maybe did a half-assed job of bringing it back to road condition? I'd be afraid of shortcuts taken to repair the vehicle.

in PA you have to have a special inspection done before you can get a rebuilt/salvage title for a car, but im sure theres ways around it. take it to a good shop and have them go over it, i have a r title grand cherokee and i cant even tell where it was repaired

Salvage title ONLY means it was in an accident and the repair exceeded the value at that time. That being said, it's probably worth $25k plus, so I'd be worried something was not fixed right. Trying to sell a salvage title car is a NIGHTMARE because people are scared of them. If you decide to purchase make sure you have a TRUSTED collision repair facility check it out. Be leary... but could be worth stealing if you don't plan to resell soon or don't mind not making much.

That being said, I don't know of ANY insurance companies who change covered due to title. THAT part shouldn't be an issue. Diminished salvage value can't be PROVEN, so your insurance company must cover for full retail and comparable value. Just FYI. I know this is an old thread, but hopefully this info helps you, or some one else.
