By using the push button switch the heater fan will turn on ,, at times it won't. I found the fuse to the heater switch(motor) and replaced it as the blower was working. My next move is to locate the plugins to the wiring and check for burn features. I don't know where they are. Am i correct in this analysis.

I would pull the fan/motor out and look at the harness and inside the female portion on the heater fan motor, mine was burnt inside so I replaced the motor and the connector.
it's on the passenger side under the glove box, you have to remove the cover that goes from the center hump over to the passenger door under the dash, takes a 7mm socket you will want a deep socket for the bolt on the far left hand side it's real pita to get to, once that left bolt is loose you can pull the cover out at an angle so you can access the blower motor. If you discover it is bad or going bad I would recommend a oem replacement, no china junk
**the motor is removed by twisting it (clockwise i think)and it has a plastic lock tab and may have 1 screw also, use a flashlight it's dark under there

+1. I would replace the fan motor. I had a similar problem on my 2007 and a new motor cured the problem.

Resurrecting the thread for our 2008 Z71 Tahoe.
Today the front heater motor started squeaking and it is 8 degrees out there so it's of high interest.
Using our VIN it seems like several GM parts sites list GM 22741027 that is pretty pricey.

Looking on RA there are many motors that are significantly less expensive, including two GM motors but the (GM's) part numbers don't matchup and it's not a given that the aftermarkets are a correct match.

Curious if anyone has used an aftermarket fan motor.

the catch here is with your 2008 you might want to pull the old one out and check the design
in my photos below the one I am pointing at is the old design on the right with a "airtube" that cools the motor from a corresponding slot in the airbox,
the one on the left is the new design and it is self-cooling
both will fit, but if you replace the old design with the new design you will have a open hole in the airbox and if you have the new design and put a old design on it will not have any cooling.
I am not sure what year they changed the design but it seems to be early on your 2008 could have either design.
both of my examples are OEM made in korea
rockauto shows either design for the same year so best to get under there and check it out before buying

***to remove the blower lift the orange locking tab from the harness connector squeeze the tab and the harness pulls out, then there is one screw to remove then you lift the plastic tab visible on the left blower motor in my photo then twist the whole thing I believe counter clockwise and then it will simply slide out.

Our vin on gm parts sites pulls up this photo related to the part number delivered and noted above and it doesn't appear to have the vent tube.
(It's odd that some GM parts sites link to an Amazon photo.)

RA has one by "Four Seasons" that notes updated design but it's so inexpensive I wonder about it.
RA has many listed but not necessarily linked to our VIN if that matters on proper application: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...040,heat+&+air+conditioning,blower+motor,6916

I'll get in there when the weather breaks and see which type is there and maybe it has a number on it.

Damn, this is the friends & family inside scoop info. Never would have guessed something like this was different. Good Stuff!

I only found out about it after messing around in the junkyard, I first pulled one that was the new style and kept it in case mine burned out and sure enough a couple months later mine burnt out and at that point was not aware of any differences, when I went to the junkyard again I grabbed another one to have a spare again and another one just for the heck of it because it was different. I think I only paid like $10 for each of these.
usually the aftermarket ones are total garbage, hence I keep a original on the shelf, last thing I need is the fan going out in 110deg weather.
I even bought another "new" oem resistor to have a spare but these gmt900 resistors are massively built compared to the gmt800 ones that would burn out left & right. the original is still kicking along just fine.

I miss those old junk yards. In the lte 60's we had one in the next town that charged $75 for "all you can take in a trip". It was self serve, take it out your self. One trip when I had a '56 Chevy netted a hood, radio and transmission for my $75.

I keep what you wrote in mind and see what I can shake loose from the local yards but around here they don't tend to part out individual parts. When I was looking for a fender nothing short of an entire front clip would be sold. I passed.

So here's an example of a typical offering from a local yard. hundred bucks more than new from on-line GM parts dealer.
As I suspected.

A question on fitment.
Is CJ2 rpo code in our glovebox an indicator of proper fitment if matched on the donor, or is there a different code to check?

As far as I know all the blower motors are the same except what I pictured, all you to do is pull the cover off under the glove box and look up in there with a flashlight to see which one you have. Takes a 7mm socket

CJ2 is the auto HVAC and CJ3 is the manual one.
When I converted from CJ2 to CJ3, the old blower motor still worked with the changed out module.
So there should be no difference, like Douby said.

Picknpull in my area has very few NNBS trucks.. '07-'09 starting to trickle in.. Too many recyclers here.
Told my lady I want a gravel yard so I can relive the junkyard experience! (Plus it beats mud)

I took a peek today and ours is like the one on the left. I was surprised that, like yours, my original was also made on Korea.
I didn't take it out due to weather complications but think I got the numbers but my dentist would do a better job because it was looking through a mirror. It is ticking when run slowly. Odd but taking left turns in the truck makes it complain.

Doubeleive, I found one for sale like the picture I posted here and it appears to be like your right picture but with the long cooling (?) duct missing. Does that make sense?
It is the part number that GM parts sites list for mine but mine has the short duct like your left picture.
Would the right one on your pictures would properly without the cooling dict?
