Driving home from the labor day weekend my 2007 Tahoe (113,000 miles on it) lost its transmission. It was bucking a bit and then I got a message Transmission overheating let car idle. I pulled off the highway and stopped at a gas station. By then it was barely running. I had it towed and was able to drive it off the flatbed. My mechanic looked at it today and I was told something broke off and is rattling around in the transmission and I need to have it rebuilt. $2600 WTF!!!!!!

$2600 I would shop around. If I'm not mistaken you can get a rebuilt GM tranny installed for less than that, with a 100k mile warranty. Don't write the check just yet.

Man at 113000 its gone? Jeez... You service it on the regular? Just curios, Ive got 140k on mine with no issues. I wonder if some of them are just "bad stock" or something.
