Traveling for work to Reno, NV area and realizing I may need some work. No tools to speak of with me and where I park, it is a decent decline.

Looking for a mechanic who will do the right thing by customer. Probably need control arm bushings and shocks replaced, for now, and need to do these things before traveling back to Florida.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Have some tools with me but not enough to do anything major. Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Wes, do you know anyone out that way? @Doubeleive

@mpicasso Are you currently in Reno or somewhere else?
I don't that's like 2:40 away from here, I would suggest maybe a mobile mechanic check craigslist/facebook marketplace
but otherwise Reno should have plenty of shops
it's an old gambling town like lake tahoe both lost their buzz after indian casino's started popping up all over.
Tahoe is just lucky it has some ski resorts and a lake to keep them afloat, the gambling bizz is hanging on by threads.

Have found a few mechanics between here and Reno and have a call out to 2. Just exploring options...

In no rush as vehicle still rides well and just showing some signs of age. Would do it when I get back home but not sure I am doing this drive back to Florida for at least another 6-9 months...and have nowhere to work on vehicle or tools to do so. Part of my other "concern" is my old mechanic would not put it on if not the "proper" part, so no stainless brake lines, no GMT900 brake upgrade, etc...which forced me to learn how to do this stuff myself!

All that said - I drive to Tahoe just to swim my dog, which is an hour away. If there is a trusted shop/mechanic 2-3 hours away, but is solid, do not mind entertaining the idea especially if I can get a rental somewhat close by.

Thanks in advance!!!

I would speculate if the control arm bushings are shot then it's probable that the ball joints are as well, might be easier to just buy new control arms which would come with both new bushings and new ball joints and is something that could be done easier, than trying to press bushings off & on, which if you have luck like mine it will just get damaged some how in the process then you need another one lol.
just be sure to mark the torsion bar so it is re-inserted properly
I rebuilt the front end of mine this summer, took all day but got it done. I did have to go buy a 2nd pickle fork to get a ball joint loose, 1 fork wasn't cutting it, had to double them up..
