I’m looking at a 2005 z71 that appears to have replacement front seats. The bottom and backs have been replaced. Neither the passenger or driver side have side airbags. Is there a way to tell if the originals had side airbags? I know they were optional. My 02 has them. Would you be allowed to replace OEM side airbag backs with non airbag backs? Is there anywhere to find what options it came with? Thanks

I would think it's in the RPO codes in the glove box. @swathdiver might know best.

Thanks! I’ll take a look. I did a VIN look up and only saw front air bags.

I'm not as familiar with the GMT800. Did you get to see all of your RPO codes and decode them? You can usually download for free the brochure for your year vehicle and see what it came with standard and optional too. Same with the owner's manual.

seems to me the airbag light would on unless someone went thru the trouble of having the dealer program them out which seems like a lot of hassle to just replace seatbacks

That’s what I’m thinking. I really thought it was standard since my 02 has them. No big deal, but was curious if they could be replaced without the airbags. Thanks everyone.

    My 06 z71 doesn't have them.
