My wife says the same, but with a TOTALLY different tone.

What can I say. I'm ******* done with computers and tech when I get home from work. I needs to do something completely different!

I started the stereo. Nothing big or $$. I just wanted to hear some music.

First off, here was the stock sub, non bose.

I didn't have a ton of time so I hacked together the stock sub enclosure plus some ghetto fab body panel work to make room for the slightly protruding sub.

Sock enclosure. Note, the woofer I bought did NOT fit into the hole all the way.

Woofer mounted. I had to remove the rubber surround. I also had to cut down the paper ring from the stock sub and use it to seal the new woofer. I didn't want to cut into the stock box.

The new woofer stuck out a bit. So I had to cut out the grill.

Like I said, I was in a hurry. I'll clean things up some day. Probably not. I know its bad. Its better than looking at hot glue.

All done with tweeter. I might cut out more room for the woofers as the door card is pushed out a tad. The door closes and looks OK, maybe not.

500 watts @ 4 ohm. Zip tied in place! I didn't want to deal with drilling into the gas tank. Its actually very well planted!

I have 2 new and cheap rear door speakers to finish things off.

In all I'm happy. I wish the woofer was a bit bigger but then I would lose the stock location. I do not want a sub box taking up cargo space.

I changed the transfer case fluid. There was no silver and still had a blue tint to it, though towards the green spectrum. It should be good for a while though I want to do the pump upgrade to keep that knife edge from eating through the case.

The bad news is that compared to the transfer case, the front diff fluid was silver-ish, watery and still groans at certain RPMs. I need to tear it down, replace bearings and seals. This damn truck will be done, tested AND ready for winter if it kills me.

My PIAA horns weren't loud enough so I added Hella Supertones to the mix. 118db of fun! :)

The insides. Looks like a voice coil. Both horns were the same except the horn discs were weighted differently which I suppose dictates the Hz.

All soldered up. I used 12 gauge wire since these can pull a bit of wattage and to ensure they perform as loud as possible.

I don't have pics but I wired everything up directly to the battery via a relay and 20 amp fuse. The relay is triggered off of the stock horn wires with a vampire clip thing.

Goddamn its loud! Here in Northern VA where tons of self important people talking important business on cell phones, ignoring light changes and driving like self important people make these quite a useful tool!

Put on an arm rest cover. $50. Doesn't fit perfect but its better than dealing with that arm pinching cracked arm rest! I might take it off and spray on adhesive in the future.

The truck looks level. What did you do?

There are a few scratches from the prev owner but nothing worth worrying over on a $3700 truck! I do like the blue though.

I didn't notice or intend the front to be anything but stock looking! Is level not stock? I had to remove the torsion bars at one point and added way thicker sway bars which added to too much torsion key torqueing raised the front perhaps?

I was only shooting for level on both corners.

Hey tgui, what's the trick in getting that dang flex fuel filter off? I bought that red OTC tool you showed and I can get it under the quick connect fitting but I can't get the fitting pulled down over the tool to release the clips.

Any advice?

Shoot. All I remember is that I had to bend and twist that tool into place, one side then the other. I had to pull back on the filter to make room I think as well. Then it was a matter of cussing and pushing the adapter forward with a long screw driver as a lever. In a fit of anger I tried yanking things apart again and the filter came off!

I've heard that shops sometimes skip what I did and just cut the filter out with large snips. I certainly would give this a shot, just dont grind it off... since gasoline and sparks are baaaad.... mmmmmmkay!

Might as well put some garage stuff here. I've slowly been cleaning things up preparing for the front diff rebuild and the winter 4l80e junkyard build. Shelves, small work bench, compressor, real tool chest and so forth are in place.

My FIL said he found his old bose setup from the late 80's in his basement and asked if I could use it. So now I have garage music and soon to be TV!

I'm rebuilding the front diff starting this weekend. It makes angry noises. I have never done anything like this before, much like the other repairs on my truck. I'll take lots of pics. Wish me luck!
