Super curious to know what he sets the idle too. Also if he suggests a converter or not. Seen some differing opinions but I set my buddies to 800 and I personally did not think it needed a converter.
That’s why I did the trailblazer converter. Just slightly more stall than the stock one. It drives great so far without issue. I had a 2k rpm converter in my pickup with the truck Norris cam and it was horrible off the line. Unfortunately now I have a 3600 stall in there(was a spare in the shop) and now it’s better for burnouts/hard launches but drivability is not my favorite. I’m gonna have him set it around 900 I’m thinking. A little higher than my truck just for the alternators to charge a little better and it not bog down when the stereo is turned up

Dude that thing sounds sick even at 900! So salty my 224/228 in my Tahoe sounds so lame compared to this new cam spec tech. Good to know about the converter, I thought it drove fine but he was bitching on day one. Then I did some remote tuning and now he said “it pulls my boat (20’ bow rider) like it’s not there.” So I’m assuming he doesn’t feel it sluggish anymore, maybe he was drinking and driving idk.

That video it’s still untuned. Idles at like 750ish. Love how it sounds though. It really feels good even now. I’m trying my hardest not to drive it a lot without the tune but it’s hard. I haven’t really given it past 1/4 throttle, I’m being super gentle just in case.

Took a month to get ahold of my tuner(he is swamped) but as of earlier today it is tuned!

I’ve put close to 1k miles on it since the swap. I’ll try to get a video of it post tune. But just driving to work earlier it is so much better. Nice not having to worry about it dying or throwing misfire codes constantly now hahaha. Might meet back up with the tuner come this winter to do a little more street/fine tuning just to get it dialed in perfect. It’s close though and will be good for the rest of the audio show season

Nice. People never realize how important it is to get a tuner who knows what the hell their doing. People take for granted the guy knows what he's doing. I know the difference between the 2--believe me. 1st tuner was complete shit. Lucky I didn't blow the motor because of him. 2nd tuner got it almost perfect. Night and day difference between the 2--plus as a bonus my mpgs got a little better.

Yeah seriously. Good thing you didn’t blow the motor! My local guy has tuned a lot of friends vehicles n/a and boosted. He tuned my pickup as well. I’ll see how my mpg are this week. Untuned it was averaging about 15ish so not bad. Hopefully it’s a little better now but I knew going into it I was gonna be sacrificing some mpg regardless.

A 6.0 AND having fun=poor miles per gallon BUT lots of SMILES per gallon.
It’s really hard to not constantly drive stupid when it sounds good or is quick hahah :headbang:

I’m pushing near 7k with the audio and still the stock trans at 250k but I will say it’s insane how tired my last 5.3 was. It’ll move pretty damn good now. It’s really hard to not do full throttle pulls everytime I get on the freeway to work :win:

That trans is on borrowed time, especially with the new motor in front of it. Ask me how I know......LOL

You’re probably not wrong. But we will cross that road when it happens hahaha. I baby the shit out of it though. Keeping it cool and out of overdrive helps a lot but it will only help so much lol

Good that you're aware. I've also heard about keeping it out of OD helps. Heat kills transmissions.
In town I only run it in 3rd and anytime I hit any type of incline tow/haul is used. Also helps I don’t drive it all the time though too. But that bridge will have to be crossed at some point for sure.
