2000 tahoe z71 obs, rear turn signal melting boards

Hi I have a 2000 Tahoe Z71, it is the old body style 5.7L V8, and it is melting the boards in the rear turn signals. Not just the bulbs, but the actual circuit boards are scorched and destroyed. I've replaced 3 so far and it keeps happening. Now the wiring inbetween is suspect.

Anybody heard of this or experienced it? I can't keep frying these boards. I'm open to suggestions, including completly rewiring and putting in LED kit. Anybody have any recommended LED kit for the rear ? I've seen some Spyder ones with good reviews (https://tinyurl.com/ydclfz8s) that are kind of expensive but i'm willing to replace the entire thing at this point.

So the turn signal piece is melting?

Are they staying on? Not just flashing when blinkers are on?

Nope they don't stay on. When they are working, they operate completely normally for approximately 8-9 months at a time. Then one of them will stop working and it does the fast clicker thing as if the bulb is out. Upon inspection, it is not the bulb, is the circuit board itself that controls the thing, and it has scorch marks on it. This has happened 2x on the right rear and now 2x on the left rear. I've replaced 3 boards. The left rear is currently not functional and won't pass inspection. But I am tired of replacing the boards at like $300 each. So I am thinking to replace the entire thing with an LED unit, which theoretically draws less power and maybe it will be okay?

Maybe try just replacing with LED bulbs first? Just the bulbs. Not the entire assembly.

Strangely enough, the bulbs are actually still good, after replacing the circuit board. I took the bulb from the burnt side and tested it on the other side, bulb was still good. After circuit board replacement, bulb was still good. I replaced it anyways, because it's cheap; suspicion is that there is some problem in the wiring somewhere inbetween that is causing this.
