1998 Tahoe barn door won’t stay open

I have 98 Tahoe and the passenger side barn door will no longer stay open like it used to. I’ve had to resort to a wonky bungee cord fix. I have to assume this is a hinge pin problem but I can’t tell what the door has used to create friction to keep it open. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your “Door Check” Strap is unserviceable. Open up your door and inspect in the middle, where this strap rides. I would guess the end of the strap has either broken or become disconnected. I would remove the carpeted interior panel of the door, for better inspection. Post some pictures of what you are dealing with.

@YukonGTmaster is on it. The disassembly to access is not too bad. After this much time the strap finally gives up. If keeping the rig till forever, replace both of them.
