1996 tahoe- drop front axle or jack up motor to change pan?

need a replace a rusted oil pan, 96 tahoe. obviously, a rusty pan means rust everywhere. it was a plow truck. im thinking jacking up the engine is only two rusty motor mount thru bolts, where as dropping the front diff is 4 rusty bolts at least. which way have most here gone, im sure im not the first.

Any photos? I still think it's better to drop the axle down but of course am offering my preference from my chair over here!
