1" front, 1" rear lift - what tire size?

Guys I'm adding an inch in the front, and an inch in the rear (because I want a bit more clearance in the front but I like the raked look). What would be a good size tire to go along with this? Has anyone done a 1" and 1" on their K2?

I'm thinking one size up from stock with 275/60/20's. Think I could go 275/65/20 and not rub?

Sorry - I know there's a ton of these threads but I don't see many guys only doing 1".

I did some searching and found my answer, which involves me returning the 1" level and getting a 1.5 for the front, keeping the 1" rear boost and using 275/60/20 tires.

I'd still love to hear input and/or see pics.

What did your research suggest about the 275-65-20s? If my memory is correct, someone on here put them on a short K2 with no rubbing and it was at stock ride height.

The 275/65/20 is about an inch taller than the 275/60/20, comes in around 34" tall. I can't imagine that fitting on a stock K2. Most of the posts I saw had at least 1.5" for the 275/60/20 (which is a hair over a 33" tire) and that was just enough room to clear with no rubbing.

I'd love to go up to the 275/65 but I'm afraid I'd need more than 1.5" up front, which I don't want to do.

Regarding wheel/tire combinations that will fit your truck without rubbing, no 2 trucks and their suspensions are exactly alike, due to a number of factors including accumulated wear on the suspension components, so there is no guarantee that what fits with no rubbing on one truck will automatically fit with no rubbing on your truck. Other folks experiences can guide you in one direction or another, but the final test will be when you mount the wheel/tire combination on your own truck.

To assist you in getting a good idea on whether or not specific alternate wheel/tire combinations 'may' fit your truck with no rubbing, I recommend that you use the wheel/tire comparison app at the URL listed below. You can use this app starting with your existing wheel/tire combination as a benchmark, assuming that there are currently no rubbing issues with it, and measure the actual critical fender and suspension component clearances as directed by this app. Then, you can enter alternate wheel/tire combinations, and this app will give you the projected changes in these critical fender and suspension component clearances.

I used this app for determining whether on not I could use my current alternate wheel/tire combination, and it accurately projected the changes in critical clearances. Again, the use of this app in not an absolute guarantee that an alternate wheel/tire combination will fit without rubbing, but it provides a much better assessment, or projection, than simply an educated guess on your part, or a statement from others that it worked on a truck other than yours.

Well, I've installed the 1.5" front and 1" rear level, along with the 275/60/20 tires. It's a very nice looking combo and I have no rubbing. I think I probably could have squeezed a 275/65/20 in but I likely would have had some rubbing at full lock, which is another thing I didn't want on this truck. I'd imagine with a 2 or 2.5" level up front one could easily run the 275/65/20, but I didn't want to go that high.

The 275/60 tires are a full inch taller than the stock rubber with no rubbing, so that's an inch of ground clearance gained, which is nice and that's the whole intent of lift kits anyway.

Of course now I find myself wishing I had gotten a set of Z71 18's. I may end up swapping these 20's out for them sooner than later if I can make it work financially. I think I prefer the larger tire look.

Thanks, I LOVED the way it looked with no side steps. Unfortunately my kids really do need something to clamber on in with, so I ended up getting those Rough Country steps shown in the second photo. If those start to rust out after a couple Central NY winters, I'll probably just take them right off and leave it with no steps.

The tow hooks are stock GM parts, I just painted them red with some Rustoleum. Since I took these photos, I also added some Z71 badges (with the red "Z") in place of the original "LT" badges. Got myself a decent Z71 clone. The red of the hooks and the Z71 badges provide complimenting accents.

No rubbing whatsoever. No trimming required. They aren't much bigger than stock.
