Thanks for the speedy reply! 243k on the tranny. Started to have trouble shifting completely into overdrive the other day. I may have the pan dropped and fluid changed to see if that helps. Any chance this could be caused by a blockage somewhere in the system causing it to relieve itself out the...
Hi All, anybody ever have their tranny dipstick blow out? Just noticed this morning that there was some obvious leakeage in the engine bay and popped the hood to see the locking tranny dipstick had popped out and fluid had spewed all over the engine bay. Is this an indication of something wrong...
Just getting back to all on this issue. Just added a bottle of Techron to 10 Gallons this weekend and by the time the 10 gallons were sucked up the bucking and hesitation have become a memory. There's still a slight miss in certain situations but after another treatment and a new fuel filter I'm...
Thanks for the quick response, I haven't cleaned the injectors or throttle body ever. Should I be using an additive in the fuel or is there a better method?
Thanks for your responses. I have not been able to get the service engine light on so i have not had any codes. I did notice the other day however that it only happens when the engine is warm. I can step on the gas with no hesitation, missing or bucking when it's cold. EGR seems to be working...
A new issue developed the other day. it occurs most obviously when i'm cruising at highway speed and I need to step on the gas a little to accelerate or climb a hill. The Tahoe starts bucking and missing unless it downshifts. I'm suspecting that it's time to replace the fuel filter but I'm not...
Thanks for your input. The exit is the stock exit behind the rear wheel on the right. I don't mind the extra sound at all and at highway speed it's not loud at all but accelerating (if you can call it that on a '95) it's really annoying as soon as it hits 2000 rpm's. It's almost as though it's...
So I just finished my exhaust system which consists of stock manifolds, Magnaflow y pipe and cats & flowmaster from there back with a 50 series muffler. It sounds great on the outside but there's a resonance or drone, if I'm using that term correctly, at 2000 rpm's. It's not really loud but I...
OK so I've just finished replacing manifolds and crossover pipe and as it happens with trucks of advanced age, the next problem reared its ugly head. The steel cross beam between frame rails rusted through where the passenger side shock attaches so now my shock if flopping around and banging in...
So I'm just about ready to put together my new exhaust system and I noticed as i was transplanting my O2 sensor that my new magnaflow y pipe has no heat shield over the cat. I was thinking of using the old one but I'd need a cutout for the O2 Sensor. Any thoughts? Also, should I re-use the old...
Hey Tahoe Jim, Hope your ride is sounding great with the new pipes. I have a question about your y pipe. I'm just about to install a new magnaflow y pipe on my '95 but i just noticed that there's no heat shield over the cat. Did yours have shields? Let me know if you get a chance.
I definitely don't have any tubes coming out of the manifolds on either side and that's what I suspected AIR indicated. I'll keep looking around and see if i can get a definitive answer on the subject. I'm on the verge of ordering new manifolds (or shortys) and I don't want to end up sending...
So I need new exhaust manifolds and it seems that there are two types. Ont type with AIR and the other without AIR. What's AIR and how do I tell which type I have? Thanks for your help!
I had one rebuilt about 5 years ago. It cost me $1100 and failed again last year. The reason for the failure both times was a broken c-clip on the rear output side that when broken allows the shaft to move in or out slightly causing the gears to grind. After the second failure I got a used...
Thanks for your thoughts. I feel the same way about the used parts especially when new ones only cost about $85 each. Thought about headers but I want it to be as quiet as possible and I'm also worried about the extra heat from the headers. Maybe I'm worrying too much.
Thanks for the redirect ff40. I'll try and keep the discussion going here.
So...after a week of "pb blaster" it though I'd try and loosen one of the y pipe flange bolts from the manifold and it broke right off with almost no effort. Just for fun I thought I'd see how hard it would be to...
Anybody have any advice on unbolting the exhaust pipes from the manifolds carefully. I have to replace my converter and my manifolds are so rusted I'm thinking they'll break before the bolts come out & I'd rather not have to replace the manifolds as well. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated.
I've had the same problem with my '95 since I bought it 12 years ago. it definitely is much worse when the weather is wet. last time it really threw me through the windshield was a day after i had my rear brakes both rebuilt. It was so violent that I'm sure something broke. I haven't looked...
