For fun... How many miles on your Yukon

I hadn't thought about rebuilding the heads but now... hmmmm. I'm not sure how to do it but I'm sure I can figure it out. I've done the fuel pump twice, 1st time was a huge pain in the ass because it went out in the middle of the winter with nearly a full tank. 2nd time was much easier.

For fun... How many miles on your Yukon

I have a 2000 Yukon SLT with 295,000 miles on it. I've rebuilt the transmission once around 180k. So far that is the most expensive single thing I've done. I'm battling the freakin ABS/Brake light issue and just as an annoyance the washer fluid level comes on all the time when its full. I'll fix...

That is perfect! Thanks I'll be sure to use that tip.

Starting problem for my 2000 Yukon

So far it was a loose connection to the battery from the neg terminal. It was tightened up and has been working great. There was obviously more play in that connection than I thought. I get nervous on what can go bad with 295k on the thing.

Starting problem for my 2000 Yukon

I had my wife stop by Advance Auto, they tightened up the connections and she said it started right away, like nothing was/is wrong. The attendant said to watch the connection and we may have to replace the battery because the connection is worn a bit from it being lose. He didn't say anything...

Starting problem for my 2000 Yukon

I'll get it checked, it's actually the bolt that screws into the battery terminal, since it's led and won't grip very well that seems to be the problem, although I have it tight enough to stay on but maybe once and a while it wiggles and doesn't create a good connection.. just a theory.

Starting problem for my 2000 Yukon

I have a 2000 Yukon, 295,000 miles on it. Lately I've had a problem and I'm not sure what it is. I'll turn the key to start it and I get nothing, not a click not anything. I can wait about 5 min or so try again and it starts right up. I've also had a couple times when it will not do anything...

    ABS light

I'm running into a brick wall - the ABS and Brake light are on and it's driving me crazy. I've checked the ground to the frame, I've replaced the ABS Module, I've replaced the sensors at the wheel. When I search there isn't much out there other than what I just stated. So, maybe I'll jack it up...

    ABS light

Interesting, if the sensor is okay but the hub is bad it’ll register the light on the dash?

ABS and Brake light on with Troublecodes

Were you able to figure anything out?

    front crankshaft seal

You are correct, sorry I forgot to include all that information. 2000 GMC Yukon SLT 5.3L with 275k on the ticker. The harmonic balancer, any reason to replace that while I'm removing it?

    front crankshaft seal

I think the front crankshaft seal is leaking oil. To replace this do I need to remove the radiator and the fan or can I get to it w/o removing all that?

    reduced fuel mileage

Took it into Midas for a diagnostics test and it came back to be the MAF sensor wasn't working properly and the intake manifold gasket was leaking. Quote to repair, 650.00. Went to auto parts store, spent 100.00 and did it myself. SES light is off and she is running like a champ. Glad I didn't...

    reduced fuel mileage

Its been a while since I pulled the codes, I could be incorrect on the exact numbers but it's plausible that the cat is clogged up. I saw it since we moved, we moved from NC to Colorado - not sure if the altitude change did anything to the truck or not. My current thought is replace the cats...

    reduced fuel mileage

SES comes on P0171 & 172 which is why I changed the O2 sensors. No smell from brakes and trans seems to be shifting normally. The cats have 275k on them... maybe they are clogged?

    reduced fuel mileage

Yea I'm pretty sure, my wife drives it 99% of the time. I did put my summer wheels/tires on it and was going to take it in for an alignment.

    reduced fuel mileage

It's been a couple tanks and it didn't correlate with the cleaning of the filter. I will say that it seems to be bogged down a bit, under power. But, to be fair, I've been driving a new to me Acura so it's hard to tell.

    Oil leak

Oil pressure sensor.... hmmm. I've been searching for an oil leak for quite a while. I replaced the oil pan gasket and took at peek at the flywheel and it was dry as a bone so I'm confident that the rear main isn't leaking (I replaced it 5 years ago when I rebuilt the transmission). I just...

    reduced fuel mileage

I have a 2000 Yukon with the 5.3 and recently I've seen a large drop in fuel mileage and I'm not sure why. recently I've changed the plugs/wires, cleaned the air filter (K&N) cleaned the throttle body and replaced the gasket, I've cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor, I've replaced the O2 sensors...

    valve cover gasket replacement

Nice, thank you for taking the time to do this. I'll be replacing mine next week. I got my gaskets off rock auto.com for like 17.xx with the grommets. Victor Reinz brand.

2000 5.3 Yukon will start but won't run

Fixed. It was the fuel pump. I bought a fuel pressure gauge and with the ignition on the pressure at the rail was around 11psi, enough to start the truck but not enough to keep it running. I changed out the filter and the pump. Along with all this other mess I ended up changing the O2 sensors...

2000 5.3 Yukon will start but won't run

Wife was driving the Yukon and the power started pulsing and then died. It would start right up, rev to about 1200 RPM then chug and die. Got it towed home, read up and cleaned the MAF sensor, cleaned the throttle body and replaced the TB gasket and replaced all the O2 sensors. Throwing code...

2000 Yukon with P0300 error code

Plugs and wires replaced and the code is still active. Next I'll get some carb cleaner and check for leaks near the intake then go from there. Plugs did need replacing so no worries there, not a wasted purchase thank goodness. I'll check connections as well thanks retiredsparky.

    AutoRide Problem

Mine went out, I bought Bilstein shocks and springs all around, pulled the fuse for the auto ride and haven't looked back. From everything I read and searched, it was expensive to replace the OEM components and I believe the Bilstein's give me a great ride.
