Ok so I still have the factory 00 silverado stereo and it works fine on radio, recently it started say err every time I put a cd in than spits it out.
I am wondering since it's a 1.5 din what all do you need? Will I lose chimes? Maybe better lol

Trying to get something that will play cds,bt,and radio probably don't need much more. Don't mind going to a single din but what is all needed? No bose, ls truck good speakers so the head unit and adapter wire harness
Thanks

While the typical replacement is a 1.0 DIN, newer solutions are able to expand to 2.0 DIN, using a new IPC bezel. Either way, the new head unit is much better than the oem. It will be able to drive your speakers directly, although you will want to get a factory amp bypass connector. I would forgo anything that plays CDs; that is a mechanical situation that adds levels of complexity and is an early failure point. Rip those CDs and use BT or USB. I really recommend replacing your oem drivers/speakers, the sound quality will be worth it. Crutchfield is a great place for research to determine what fits where.

As far as the chimes, on a 00-02 the chimes do NOT go through the radio. So thats one less thing that you have to worry about. Like mentioned above, you can replace your dash bezel and fit a double din radio. OR.....you can just install a simple single din radio or CD player with a 1.5 din dash mount kit. For this install, you will need the 1.5 din mounting kit, a radio dash harness, and an antenna adapter. These can all be found on Amazon for under 20 bucks each.
