I have a 2005 Tahoe with 188K miles. Luckily enough I went to buy a new trailer and that's when it would not crank. The dash gauges drop to zero when I turn the key but no clicking of the starter.
After jumping attempts I had it towed home. I swapped the relay with no improvement. Then watched a vid on how to check the starter system.
I don't remember the pins on the relay but ground pin was good, the pin with key on power had 12.8v same as battery and the pin that gets power when key is turned to start has same 12.8v. I tried jumping across the relay if I remember right it is the key on to the start circuit and you can hear a click but not much of one.
I ordered a new starter but figured while I wait for it to get here I would post this in case I am missing something. As far as I know the starter is the original but I got the truck in 2014 with 144K miles on it.

if you are sure it has a good solid 12v to the starter then you can pull it out and bench test it to confirm, pretty easy to do.
if it works multiple times in a row then it's probably not the starter
