Hello, I have a 2022 Tahoe that is making a clunk/thump noise when turning the wheel left or right to park in a parking spot, reversing left or right out of a spot, or making a sharp left/right turn. It does not happen all of the time but it does happen enough to notice.

I was wondering if anyone else had had this issue and had gotten it fixed per the TSB here PIT6033.

The closest post I found that has videos with the same sound I am hearing while turning is Here.

Interesting.. I’d have thought your 4w actuator is sticking and that you are in 4 x when it shouldn’t be. The binding noise is common in4x

Does the noise occur when you simply turn the wheels in place with no truck moving, or does the truck have to be moving AND the wheels turned, in order to have the clunk occur?

Hello all,

Truck is in 2wd when noise occurs. Have never used the 4x4 system on it.

Truck has to be moving while performing a tight left or right hand turn for the noise to occur. The noise also happens when vehicle is in reverse while also turning hard left or right.

This is not a binding noise that you get with driving in 4x4. I know how that sounds and feels.

This instead is almost like a clunk or pop noise that only happens as you are moving and making a hard left or right hand turn in either drive or reverse.

I can duplicate the noise heard here in the two videos posted.

If you get this while moving, but not while stopped (and turning the steering wheel), I'm thinking that it could be one of the CV joints on the front drivetrain.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I am getting the same exact issue in my 2022 Tahoe with 50k miles.. I have smooth ride suspension(or whatever they call it) not magnetic or air ride. Checked all the TSBs out there, torqued my rear seat bar etc. there is also a tsb for loose front sway bar nuts that come unwelded. Mine are tight.

Also read that lifting the vehicle, loosening all the suspension, re torquing will get things back aligned and has fixed the issue for some.

Has your engine been replaced? I had a nasty clunk/pop when turning at slow speeds on my ‘22 that I spent months chasing. Turned out to be a loose subframe bolt that wasn’t torqued all the way after the engine was replaced.

May be different but sounds like steering half shift under hood, that I had to get replaced....

Posting my update, I had this same issue took it to dealer 3 times and it got louder and more frequent.

They ended up retorquing the suspension and so far within a day it has not come back, I also had the alignment done as I keep going thru tires (outer shoulder wear) every year.

Anyways the dealer still charged me for the repair and did not open the TSB I sent them...lol

When I listened to the video it sounded similar to what was happening with my 2024 Tahoe.
The module on the power step was going and hard turns in either direction started to deploy then stopped quickly.
They never actually deployed but the bad module prompted it for some reason. Turning off the steps stopped the noise.

These are Amp Research Power Steps not OEM.
AMP is sending the module under warranty and the shop that installed it is replacing it.

Just putting this out there as the noise was similar to the video and only on hard turns at low speed.
