No dealers buy diesels for incoming stock. Truck buyers know what they are, but vast majority T/Y buyers are more soccer mom/Pull a boat once a year type gas people. Even though fuel is higher now.. took a 50 mile trip today AC blasting in 90 heat....29 MPG. I hardly EVER run into diesel T/Y owners anywhere...... Still supremely happy.....
Can't believe there aren't diesel techs in the south and parts distribution is pretty equal everywhere... Plus you don't need to be a diesel tech to run GM's software and change parts.....

Dealers do stock diesels, but not everywhere, where the demand exists. I can find 200-300 diesel Tahoes easily within 5-7 hrs drive. We just dont have demand/supply in our area (within 100-200 miles).

Having owned a couple of diesel vehicles back, I would love to own an LZ0 for its torque, but eventually didnt make sense. With discounted Costco topteir gas price (no discounted diesel) the gas/diesel price difference is about 40%+ didnt justify the MPG gain on diesel and, add DEF to it too. My long idles and short daily trips wouldn't to good either. Lastly, low demand, low resale value. Im sure diesel has its own place, but not here.

That's funny.. within my 5-7 hr. radius? less than 40 and when you click on them, many show as incoming stock. And what incoming stock means? That they were an ordered unit and never will actually show up as publicly available. When I bought my 2, they showed up as incoming stock units too, and my dealer got many calls to buy them on the way in. He had to tell them that they were actually presold.....

Not sure what you mean. Within 500miles of my ZIP, I can find 36 diesels. 8 in transit and all other 28 available now at dealerships. Within texas itself I can find 100+ AVAILABLE NOW.

Diesels are very hard to get and very coveted across Canada. I’ve been waiting for allocation since January. Diesel prices currently 30%+ more right now over regular, and around 30% on premium, which probably puts it on par with the 6.2 in terms of fuel costs, but the diesel still wins on the highway.

But, the range gain on a tank of gas is worth a small premium to me.

I just purchased a Range RA007 for a 2026 HC and wondering if I can install it without having to go through the panel behind the LF tire. I’ve heard great reviews of this with several claiming better gas mileage as well.

on HC put on the highest height setting and go under from the front (nose). You can directly access it. 5-10 mins work.

For the life of our 2025 Tahoe, the computer mpgs is inaccurate when compared with the pump, as in, ALWAYS. I don't know what GM uses to determine fuel consumed, because the other two vehicles are within 0.1 to 0.3 when compared to the pump. The actual mpg is worse. Just FYI, but I get it's a feel good. Our computer shows 29 mpg as the best--I can say for fact it's not rolling at the interval it's supposed to (50 miles I think). In 7k we avg 14 mpg, but our vehicle never sees the highway. If on the highway the computer will show 24-26 mpg. I have actually pulled over and filled up after only highway driving (60 miles) to actually book over 20 mpg (like 23--figure this is DFM in action).

Just installed the Range ra007 today.
Thanks to the advice here it was an easy job. Too soon for any mileage commitments but love getting rid of that auto engine stop!!
Seems to be smoother driving with more responsive acceleration.

That’s interesting as I have done the math with gallons used and miles traveled. I am driving on flat roads in Florida and I found that the computer and the real numbers are pretty close and within a mpg.

I’ve done this on 30 mile round trips and long trips of 500 miles.
I found that using premium fuel, 91-93 is worth the cost in performance and fuel economy.

Yeah, no way I'm seeing a 25% increase in mpg's using premium on my 5.3L......

First of all a 25% increase in fuel economy is not realistic even with serious mods! 5-8% improved by using premium vs regular fuel is realistic.

I didn’t imply anything like 25% increase in fuel economy by using premium but the 6.2l will get better mileage and better performance with premium 91/93 vs 87.

There are several posts on this forum and others that mention using premium will get optimum performance and fuel economy. GM recommends premium for this reason.

I don’t have a 5.3 and GM might not recommend premium for that engine.
I was saying that the onboard fuel economy numbers were very close and almost identical to doing the math on fuel consumption and distance between fill ups.

Premium is recommended for your 6.2L. It does virtually nothing for the 5.3L and most engines that are designed for regular. It's $1.00-1.10 more per gallon here in Wisconsin.

Our HC 6.2 drinks nothing but 93 octane premium fuel and has been very accurate on the mpg readout versus fuel used. We also enjoy a relative flat area and I can tell when high headwinds or slight change in elevations can effect the mpg on the instant readout or overall average during trips.

Do you guys swear by the Range or does Carbyte work just as well?
I’m running Carbyte now as it’s a plug and play that will definitely remove auto stop and it’s advertised as running full V8.
I do take it out when it goes to dealer for oil change and maintenance and I remove it before any over the air updates.

For the price I think it’s well worth it.

2026 Tahoe with 6.2L. On the highway cruising at 80 it gets about 22mpg.
