Sorry, i'm not buying it. You're getting 40-50% better mileage than almost anyone here.

That's pretty damn good for a 6.2, IMO.
I think so!
This is on cruise control and flat smooth roads here in Florida.
Our biggest grades are up a bridge and that’s rarely longer than a half mile.

There is a big difference if I go over 60mph though and it drops significantly.
I have a Carbyte that is supposed to run full time V8 and checking the mileage without Carbyte and with it plugged in doesn’t seem to change.

I was surprised how efficient the 6.2l is in the 55-60mph range but most of the high way driving here is 70 mph plus.

These two motors are pretty efficient. Tahoe is pretty much a giant brick with terrible aerodynamics. MPG goes down exponentially with the speed.

Onetime I recorded ~30 mpg over 50 miles @ 45-50 mph..

This is my experience as I was breaking her in (6.2 HC) on our first official long distance trip down the GA coast and over to the FL panhandle’s surgery white sands. Speed and windy conditions along with elevation changes will definitely affect your mileage especially on the open road. I’ am still impressed with her mileage as we average about 80 mph. 416+ mile trip on one tank if I don’t get to frisky with go pedal.

You should drive the Duramax at those same speed figures. I did about a month ago and we were in the 33 to 34 mile per gallon range. No matter what, slower is better, but nobody goes slow anymore.

How are you guys getting these numbers? I have a 2026 Z71 with the 5.3L and I have never broken 19.9MPG.

Even on my drive from Texas to GA, I never broke 20mpg

I am skeptical as well. You have a Z71 though and tires will affect your mileage. C&D does controlled highway tests at 70 mph and they got 20 mpg on a 6.2L Tahoe. One way averages are useless. The original poster here has a 2WD Tahoe, which is a real Unicorn in my neck of the woods.

I’m im Florida and everything is pancake flat and super smooth, we don’t have the weather changes to create road damage and roads like A1A in central Florida don’t get much heavy truck traffic.
It’s almost perfect fuel economy conditions unless the traffic is super heavy and stop/start.

This is the drive summary display on a typical comute for me - A1A with light traffic.
This shot is slowing down before I turn on to my street after traveling 13.5 miles. The speed limit drops to 35 mph after most of the drive was 50mph speed limit.
You can see the cruise control set to 52 mph ( speed limit is 50mph for most of the trip), distance, the current speed limit and ET. If you do the math the numbers are accurate.
This was one of the best numbers but I usually get 23+mpg on the trip.

A 4wd will always get a little worse fuel economy than a 2wd on the highway but like others have said it’s also just as much about how you drive and I don’t mean hyper mileage driving either. Stop and go traffic in the city will result in an obvious reduction in your fuel economy results.

If you keep your trip info page up on the main screen you can monitor the sliding bar and the instant mpg readings. This will help you see when and how your mileage is affected by hills, rainy weather, aggressive throttle movement and not to mention elevated speeds.

My dealer told me that if you buy this vehicle in two wheel drive configuration. Its resale will be crap. Only one out of 100 buyers would ever look at one of these big vehicles and consider it.... being two wheel drive.

It all depends on where you live. In my area (west texas, no snow, flat roads). More than 50% of dealers inventory is RWD.

Originally, I was planning to get a diesel. No dealer carries diesel here. When I tried to order one directly, I was told the resale will be crap here as there is no GM dealership willing repair diesels or carries parts.

I did a search on Autotrader. 200 new Tahoes in my area, all 4WD. Not the case down south....

I can get 80 mpg if I push the reset at the top of the grade and let it run to the bottom… “don’t touch gas” it’s just a game.. and in reality I get 14.5 unless going down hill.

No dealers buy diesels for incoming stock. Truck buyers know what they are, but vast majority T/Y buyers are more soccer mom/Pull a boat once a year type gas people. Even though fuel is higher now.. took a 50 mile trip today AC blasting in 90 heat....29 MPG. I hardly EVER run into diesel T/Y owners anywhere...... Still supremely happy.....
Can't believe there aren't diesel techs in the south and parts distribution is pretty equal everywhere... Plus you don't need to be a diesel tech to run GM's software and change parts.....
