Hello everyone,
Just thought I would say hello and drop a line.

Just brought home an 04 denali. Original owner, 198k so lots of miles. Kinda figured the price was right so I would just bring it home and fix her up and breath some new life into it. Had the usual service stability control and tire pressure service lights.

Had it since Sunday and have discovered I also have a parasitic draw and after testing discovered the usual icp power suck problem. Guess the brand new battery should have been a flag but hey it's not like you can look at a rig over a 24 hour period lol

So sounds like Monday the cluster will get sent off. Also have a new compressor coming from arnott since the previous owner put in arnott bilstiens all around very recently. Also got heavy duty inner and outer tie rods and pitman and idler arm coming. Just got done servicing the front diff, t-case, trans, and rear diff, as well as a full tune up.

Previous owner had a new trans installed at 150k which I verified with reciepts as well as removal of the pan for servicing. Also got another tpms sensor to go in the right front tire. Once I get it up to par plans are to begin the mods. I sold an 05 cts-v with a Maggie and a tons of mods (470 to the tires) I had done and moved to this. Figured it was time for a new project.

I am an auto tech by trade and worked for a gm dealer and was a dyno operator for years and have done a lot of tuning and building custom cars.

Sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to say high and happy to be a contributing member. Looks like you have a wealth of knowledge here!:)

I'll have to get some pics up of the denali. She's a little rough send the edges and is getting some much needed detailing and paint touch up.

Thanks for the welcoming guys!

Just rebuilt the drivers side mirror today and replaced the key fob cases. Now onto removing the aftermarket alarm..... Hate those things, don't now how many times vehicles have been towed into my shop with no start conditions all because they bought the cheaply alarm.

Talked with the guy that was recommended for rebuilding the board on the instrument cluster and so I plan on sending that off the first part of the week while I rebuild the front steering and realign it.

Gotta retune it soon and firm up those lazy sloppy shifts in the trans. No wonder they burn up lol

welcome!!! being a GM tech you probably know much more then me, but the lux stock amp in these trucks sometimes go bad resulting in a large current draw when off.

Yes I was wondering that myself so Friday evening I did an amp draw test and tested each circuit. None were really making a difference (was pulling 250Ma continuous) until I pulled the ipc fuse and watched the readings drop to 40mA which fits the 35-50 mA spec.

So far I have pulled the ipc fuse and came out today and bingo, she fired right up. I have the dash out and am going to get it sent off tomorrow!

Should have my new arnott compressor end of this week as well as the steering parts so I will get that installed also.

Well after sitting since Sunday afternoon she fired up and drove right into the shop to get the front end torn down.
I'm excited to see what the speedo guy says once he takes a look at the board.

On the other side I got all steering items minus the pitman arm removed from the vehicle tonight and took measurements and ordered poly bushings and end links for the front sway bar since I removed it to get better access at the pitman arm. It was all going good until my pitman arm puller broke! Darn it........ The snap on man will be getting that junk back. So I'm off to see if I can locate a better puller tomorrow. If I can't find something the will work good enough with it on the rig I will break down and remove the steering box completely.

I'll try to get pics of the old and new parts for a comparison since I ordered the top moog parts. They had just the problem solvers and then they had ones that were one better then the problem solvers according to them.

I tried to take the pitman arm off my Sierra and couldn't fit the oreillys puller inbetween the gearbox and the cross member... Not sure how it's supposed to be done

Pitman arm and idler arm are changed now, once the sway bar is out of the way and the three bolts to the steering box are pulled you get all sorts of room. I put one bolt in and just rotated the box to where I needed.

Also something else showed up today :)

I will get that installed tomorrow along with the inner and outer tie rods.

Ok so,
Compressor is installed with the rebuilt air dryer. Front end is back together and poly bushings installed.

Decided to pull the valve covers off and reseal them since I can see that they are wet down the sides of the engine.

Also when running the rig I noticed the annoying click noise coming from the blend door actuator , sounds like it has a stripped gear. So I have the dash torn apart to remove it. I have to get a couple more tools tomorrow but I am confident I will be able to replace it without having to remove the dash entirely like has been stated before. I only have one screw left in the actuator right now and it will be out. Normally I would have just taken it to my ship to do this but I have just been tackling this stuff in the garage so it takes way more time lol

Guess I should have named this the rebuild thread lol.

Finally got the dash back and installed! White led lighting really looks nice against that white paint lol

Also got that darn actuator replaced, what a pain.

Fired the rig up and heard the sweet sound of a compressor running and wow the ride is so much better!

Tonight I finally got to the fun stuff. I broke out my V2 and efilive and loaded in the tune I had been working on (thanks goes out to efilive forum and the members) for the help on it!

So far I am just starting out with a few things before I delve into the ve tables and spark tables. Took out half of the torque management, shortened the shift times up, and increased the pressure a touch in the trans. Removed speed limiter, and improved the pe tables.

The tunes in these trucks sure are screwy! No wonder they develope trans problems and feel doggy on the throttle inputs. She's feeling much better right now and I can't wait to start dialing in the rest.

Thinking I will do the usual bolt ons. Intake and full exhaust from headers back. Really liking the sound of the corsa!

Going in Wednesday for a full top to bottom detail. I will try to post before and after pics!
