I finally have a free Saturday to drop my Tahoe and should have full use of a lift too. Any heads up on things to watch out for would be appreciated!

Parts:
Belltech 2/3-4 kit (Spindles, 5305 rear springs, shock extenders)
Belltech SP Shocks (front and rear)
DJM Rear Kit
Spohn Adjustable Panhard Bar
New front hubs
New front upper control arms
New lower ball joints and control arm bushings
Helper Bags for the rear
Russell Stainless Brake Lines kit
NNBS Drilled and Slotted Rotors (Advance Brake Technology on eBay) (Front only, will replace the rears later if happy with these)
NNBS Power Stop Red Powdercoated Calipers (Going to paint the rears to match later)
Wagner ThermoQuiet Pads

Going to do the free travel mod as well so I assume this will take all day (especially since I will not have any or much help for most of the time). Not planning to install the 1 inch spacers in the rear either and hope it sits level or have a slight rake. I really want to upgrade the sway bars as well, but chose to upgrade the brakes first. Any tips or advice before I jump head-first into this Saturday morning? Every bit of advice is helpful such as how much shorter than stock to set the panhard bar initially to reduce the adjustment after installed. I would be happy to take pictures and write down some notes to post later if others would find it helpful. This is my first lowered vehicle (other than drop shackles on trucks) and I am pretty excited about the process.

I'm starting a new job/career in August, so my 15 mile roundtrip commute to work and back will turn into about 110. The Tahoe turned over 163,000 this morning. I've already replaced the transmission and the water pump, belts and hoses. The motor runs strong with no leaks and doesn't smoke or use oil so I hope to get another 100,000 miles out of the 4.8. I eventually want to build a stout 5.3 or 6.0 to drop in, but would like to drive this one to work for a while and save up to eventually get a car that gets great MPG just for work and then have this as the weekend cruiser and a toy.

You should be good with all that your doing to it. Just make sure you have grease for all the fittings. I did my drop on the floor in the driveway at my parents house before I bought my house, having a lift will make it easier. Good luck and make sure to take before and after measurements.

Thanks.

My before measurements are:

LF - 35 3/8
RF - 36 3/8
LR - 37
RR - 37 3/4

The previous owner had 24's on the Tahoe with the torsion bars cranked down and spring compressors on the coil springs at one point for a homemade drop. smh I never adjusted the torsion bars to try and level it out in the front, but I did remove the spring compressors when I noticed the were loose and rattling.

Have lower ball joints pressed in by a professional unless you have a bad ass press.

Get the bolts for the upper control arms. They break all the time. Just return them if you don't end up needing them.

Did you figure out how your going to bleed brakes?

I'll have access to a full mechanic shop, so tools and equipment should not be an issue.

Thanks for the heads up on the bolts!

I know the shop has a vacuum bleeder and a power bleeder, but I'm going to try to have someone stop by to pump and hold the brakes for me. I've never had good luck with the vacuum bleeder personally.

Didn't get started until late yesterday morning but got the drop kit installed. Didn't have a chance to do the brake upgrades because I forgot we had a wedding reception to attend early in the evening. Drives much better now than before! Tweaking the torsion bars today and cruising around and then re-measuring. Dropping off at the alignment shop tomorrow. It is much lower than I thought it would be, but I love it.

I'm going to add helper bags soon and hopes it raises the back just a little bit to give it some more rake.

I may take the running boards off to see how it looks. It feels awkward getting out now because the running boards are kind of in the way now.

you were 1 inch lower in front on one side vs other before the drop? What does it measure now? you left spacers in the back?

The previous owner jacked with the torsion bars and had it lower on one side. I never bothered to adjust them back to level because I was waiting to drop it.

I'm at 33 1/8 in the front and 33 5/8 in the rear. I do not have the spacers in the rear.

I agree it gives it an even lower look. I may even add the front air dam lip from the suburbans to make the front look even lower.

The tahoe looks great! Wish I had access to a shop to do my work!

Thanks. My parents actually own the mechanic shop, but getting access to it is not as easy as you would think! I can typically only use it if they are closed for business on that Saturday and if one of the 8 or 9 lifts is available. I also get hounded for any mess I make even if I make sure it is spotless when I leave.

Did you do the free travel mod to the rear? Looks good with no spacer in the rear but I agree and think the running boards make the whole drop look better as well.
Just got my endlinks in from Tony, so hopefully soon I be dropping mine as well with the same kit.

I did do the free travel mod to the rear; so worth it. We took it down the worst road that I know of and it handled tremendously and never bottomed out.
