Today I went to get the Tahoe detailed. She was looking good too. On my way home is when it went down hill.

I was pulling up to a red light. The truck in front of me was a NNBS Silverado. The next thing I know his truck was in reverse and coming at me. His hitch smashed into my bumper causing little damage to him. He put a pretty good dent. When I asked him what he was doing he told me had put it in park and just put in reverse when the light turned green.

Now I have a terrible looking bumper, but I can get the Z71 bumper instead now. So how do I go about getting it instead of what I currently have?

What an idiot!!! Only in California, people here can not drive for sure.

I hope you got his insurance info in order for him to pay for your damages.

And thats a perk of being lifted:). Love how the ugly ass semi new style plate is still in better shape then the bumper lol. Y should get a grille guard and the s71 bumper or an offroad bumper or cattle guard

I bought my Z bumpers off ebay pre painted. Worked out awesome. Make sure you get the black z71 LTZ front valance! Which means you'll need fog lights too, same plug tho no wiring necessary.

So I went to the body shop today to get an estimate do the damages. A little over $1k worth of repairs. I asked about the paintable bumper and it was the same cost as the chrome. The only catch was I would have to pay for the painting. He couldn't find the Z71 valance either. I gave him the part number but for some reason he didn't have it in his system. So I guess I will just order it from Rock Auto.

Why not try a metal bumper and get it painted to match? I understand about horrible drivers though Houston is horrible

This is what I did when got rear ended, but wanted a painted Denali rear bumper instead of stock Tahoe chrome bumper. Same situation as you, since bumper was chrome, insurance wasn't gonna pay for paint.
I bought Denali bumper myself, found it cheaper then body shop could get it. Since damage estimate was X amount, I bought bumper for Y amount, which was cheaper then estimate cost. Since I saved money buying bumper myself, I was able to use the insurance money to pay for the paint, and got money in my pocket when all said and done.

If Tahoe isn't payed off, Insurance company doesn't care what bumper you have, as long as you have one. And as long as your body man willing to do it, shouldn't be a problem. Now if Tahoe payed off, you can do whatever you want.

I didn't even think about getting it myself! I found everything to do it cheaper than the $500+ for just the chrome bumper and valance. Too bad I picked her up last week so now I'm just waiting on the z71 valance to come in.
