5.7L V8 Tune Up

I just purchased a 99 Tahoe and I am going to do a tune up and would like some opinions on the best products to use for the tune up. It is a 4x4 and current has 145000 miles on it.

AC Delco plugs and new wires if in the budget. When you do an oil change I would add 1qrt of cheep automatic transmission fluid to your oil and run the truck for about 10 mins to clean out any gunk that might be in there. When you change the oil look and see if any clumps come out. The oil will be the blackest you have ever seen btw lol. I all ways add a quart to mine to keep any deposits out. There is oil treatments out there but it's the same thing as adding transmission fluid to the oil but cheaper

I have never used ATF to clean out the engine. I'm going to have to try it since I was going to go the seafoam route. Is there anything else you would recommend?

ATF is old school and doesn't applt to newer engines. I would suggest you use a proper cleaning additive and never take xanatoast's advice for anything.

I have used it for over a year in my motor. I pulled my upper and lower intake when I did my spider upgrade and when I pulled my lower and was able to look into my motor it looked like a new motor. Not a hint of sluge. I been adding ATF in all my cars. About a year ago I rebuilt the motor in my 98 TJ with a buddie of mine who was a machainac and when we pulled the motor apart he couldn't believe how clean my jeeps motor was. I told him what I was doing and he said that's why. So please tell me how I am wrong.

Check distributor cap for wear too.

acdelco 41-993 plugs or autolite xp605 plugs, delco 9718q for wires if staying with unmodified ignition system. delco d465 rotor and d329a cap. bear in mind these are usually only needed once every 100k miles.

Are you saying you add ATF to flush the engine out and the you dump it?

Or, are you saying you actually add ATF to your engine oil and then drive it that way?

forget the atf idea. it is not a real permanent solution to anything.
