Thread Back from the Dead..

I found this set up to be the cheapest on the Autozone website: Is this still the same as if I got it from Airaid themselves? Price seems to be too good.. You know.

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cart/cart.jsp

For 201-712 I got it for $170.00 and free shipping but with the autozone 25% discount code It got me to $136.79 with free shipping. Any input?

Antonio

Update:

Shit, I just notice it was on the NNBS section.. Oh well.. Any input will still be appreciated lol.

If you're getting the intake tune and the filter that's an excellent deal!

Yeah. In getting all that. The full CAI system. Guess I got a good deal in it. 4 wheel parts was the next best thing. Theirs came out to $320-$330 but they give you a $50 dollar promo card that you can use.

Also they DO offer a full intake system which is around the $250 mark I believe. That's prob what they were quoting you.

The MIT (modular intake tube) with the filter is around $130-160. This utilizes the stock airbox.

Yeah MIT/filter was at $170 + taxes shipped but after coupon it was $148 taxes and shipping included.

I just might as well get the whole thing. I know it won't make much difference but it was more of a learning experience for me.

Outside of the performance that it offers does the cold air intake help with fuel mileage? If so how much more mpg should i expect to see

Yes and no. For the most part, improving fuel mileage on these trucks is a moot point. You can do all you can to optimize it, but seeing any kind of substantial gain is equivalent to chasing a unicorn. It has more to do with your driving habits than any other single factor. If I put my foot in it all the time, I can almost watch the gas gauge needle fall. If I chill out, not so much. It's all relative.

Tuned w/ 285s and an airaid jr, I'm averaging 14-15 city. If I set the cruise control on the highway, I can eek 17-18 out of it, 19+ if we're going downhill with a stout tailwind lol. It wasn't much (if any) worse before the mods, but it's a hell of a lot more responsive and fun to drive now. That's really what it's all about.

Hehe MPG. Ive put the Air Raid Jr on mine and cleaned out the TB and nice new tires and changed all the drive train fluids and removed the resonator and changed to a better flow magna flow muffler and I got exactly 0 change in MPG. Ive even tried to use 93 Octane to sorta clean out things and it didn't lessen nor increase MPG. Right now I'm running straight Non Ethanol gas and it has changed my MPG by nothing. So I completely agree with TheFuzz
