I hate to be that guy ... but you do realize that that's what oncoming traffic sees?

This is what happens when you put HID bulbs in reflector housings.

But as long as you're happy I guess.

Pictures always make those HIDs look way worse than they actually are. I have HID low beams and fogs as well and have never been brighted. The Z71 fogs are worse about the glare than all others though.

Austin, having glare as a result of installing bulbs in housings they were never designed for isn't the same as driving around with high beams on. It is a flawed argument akin to saying "I didn't murder anyone, I just scream profanities in church" ... Whereas the latter isn't illegal, it is certainly obnoxious and rude.

Let me ask you this ... if it was as simple as swapping bulbs do you think car manufacturers would go through the time and effort to create proper projectors for said bulbs? Wouldn't it just be easier to just slap another bulb in a reflector housing and call it a day?

Hid bulbs in reflector housings are not DOT approved because they fail to meet lighting standards, both for the vehicle they're on and for other traffic. There's no getting around it.

right, why would it matter when traffic coming at you is blinded, be kind of ironic if you get hit head on though

grow up dude

dude i wouldnt want that ever to happen, a tahoe is way higher than a small car so of coarse it will be bright, and there not so bright that someone will be blinded that bad, i even said i aimed them down, chill

Wow, you guys are blowing it just a tad out of proportion....Its really not as bad as you make it seem. Yeah in a perfect world, we all would drop big $$$$ to have our headlights customized properly to accept HIDs, but the fact of that matter is we arent in heaven yet. I have HIDs in my low beams and its really not that glaring or in any way shape or form dangerous for oncoming traffic. This is just as dangerous to surrounding drivers as someone driving an extra 5mph over the speed limit... Come on people

B.G. how much did you spend on you wheels, drop, and all other mods?
So the issue isn't available funds, it's an issue of priorities. A lot easier and cheaper to slap an HID bulb and ballast than to do a proper retrofit.

What's even easier and cheaper is doing nothing at all and spare the world of yet another PnP kit on the roads.

Here, you can even get these bulbs and get a whiter color than the yellow stock bulbs: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-31066_7-57317940-267/sylvania-aims-its-zxe-headlights-at-the-tuner-set/

It seems that folks just like to say "I gots me HIDs yo" no matter what. :whymewhyme:
