I ordered a set of 26" u2-55's. I wanted the all black version but they no longer offer that option. The only black u2-55's they currently make are both gloss black; one with with a raised polished line/accent down the spokes and on the lip edge and the other with solid black spokes (no accents) and a polished lip edge. I went with the solid black spokes and polished outer lip.
I already have a guy lined up locally to paint the lip edge so the wheels will be all black like I originally wanted but he threw out a couple ideas that got me thinking.
Here is what I came up with: Paint the outer lip gloss black as planned and paint the spokes red. Not the entire spoke but the middle section. I would try to match the reds on the truck as much as possible ie the gmc badges, the brake lights, etc...
I know its a little "out there" but I like being different and I can always have the wheels repainted if I grow tired of the look.
Please excuse the poor photoshop skills. Im a noob. If you squint it kind of helps blend the lines haha! The first pic shows a red outer lip on the front wheel and a black lip on the rear. The red is way too bright in the first pic and I definitely like the black lip better but wanted to show what a red lip would look like to mix it up. Keep in mind, only the outer edge of the lip will be painted whether its red or black. The dish will remain gloss black either way and, again, I like the look of the black edge a lot better so most likely the only red on the wheels will be on the spokes. The second pic shows a black lip and black center cap on the rear wheel (my preference). Helps give an idea of what it would look like from another angle. Lastly, the third pic shows what I invision the wheel to look like by itself.
I don't know if this truck belongs to a member of the forums. If so, I hope you dont mind me using your pics. I found them on google. Thanks!
Let me know what you think...
