You are going to need LOTS of fabrication skills ... If the donor is a 2wheel drive I woudl cut the frame and weld the front of the 2x onto the 4x frame.

LOl i dont think much fab skill will b needed. i think someone with just standard knowledge could get it accomplished if they measure alot. The skills i have lol... But yes the donor is a 2wd and i plan on just stubbing the front... Make it alot easier..

If you don't think much fab skill is needed go look at performancetrucks.net, look at some of the rear end stuff they fab up and then look at custom2500's shit. Then come back here and tell us don't think you need much fab skills ... hahahaha

Yes u are correct. If someeone wanted a very off the wall Watts link or cantilever setup it would require alot of mad Fab skills. But go back and look at my post I simple said for doing the clip. No if o would have said I wanted a cantilever setup built on my own then yes u would be correct. So u r right and u rwrong.......

i would use car-part.com and locate a 2wd frame close to you and do a complete frame swap. you will also have to deal with the trans, a new drive shaft.

What I'm saying is you can't go out in your garage with a tape measure and make this work. You need skills. Some people have it and some don't. I used the rear end stuff as an example, I know the skills in that stuff are a little different but skills are skills. I was simply telling you to go look at some peoples fabrication ability. If you are here asking us what you can use and what you can't, you don't have those skills.

Ok guys i need to clear some stuff up here b/c i guess people are not understanding my initial question. I was not asking for some one to tell me step by step how to do it... I was just asking for ideas. I guess i will stop asking questions and ideas on here since seems everyone wants to take it to offensively... I was simple asking about b n able to use the cap. I have only stubed 2wd to a 2wd and never from a 4 to a 2... Simple as that. I have the skills to do whatever i like in the rear.. But then again i am not a huge fan of very wild rear link setups. i like simple and clean.. So I was just curious about the fron. No the normal person cannot go out to a garage and whip up a one off custom never before seen ride... But i have seen it done before... So yes you are right in the since that you have it or you dont. I never said that i was a genius. But you really mean to tell me that some of the guys on here that are well knows for thier over the top one of a kind builds ahve never asked questions? No i think they have.. So sorry to offent anyone if i did but it was a simple questions.....

AtomiicHoe094... Yes i know that you can bag a 4x4. but i do not want to... The front diff has problems and the tranny is bad. so why was the money on fixind the 4x4 parts when i have all the stuff to replace it with 2wd stuff. I already have the spindles and so on for a 96 yukon 2wd so i am gonna use that...

This is the reason i do not just bag it as a 4x4.

Thanks

The easiest way to do this. Remove the T-case, front drive shaft, and front chunk. Pull out the front half shafts, and remove the outer stub from the rest of the half shaft. Then put the outer stubs back in place to hold the wheel hub assembly to the spindle. Install the 2wd trans into the truck, lengthen the driveshaft to the necessary length.

Nothing difficult, aside from the driveshaft work, your looking at maybe a days work.

Your 95 has a 4l60e and the 89 has a 700r4. The electrical is going to be the tough part to tackle. I would part out the 89 for enough to get a 4l60e from a salvage yard. If you still want to go to 2wd, you can just grab a 2wd trans and driveshaft.

If you plan on bagging it I wouldn't use the stock a arms there junk for bags. Your better off getting some better quality aftermarket a arms. I converted a 70 chevy pickup 4x4 into a 2wd with bags I used air ride technologies a arms spindles and bags and in the rear I made my own 4 link. I think the only way to go with bags is with quality parts or your gonna get a crappy ride.

It would just look so much better if people knew how to use grammar and read their post before submitting it. I say to part some things out on the donor and use that money to buy some parts to fix your truck

I made my 95' 4x4 a 2x4 just removed the front diff made some cv delete's
Left the t case cuz my trans was freshly rebuilt
Depends on how low u want to bag it, will determin what control arms you will need
If you change the front spindles to 2x4 spindles they will be 5 lugs
And the rear diff will be 6 lug and u will have to change spindles and loser control arms
4x4s use tortion bar suspension and 2x4 uses coils.
Unless u do the swap and bags all at the same time
Good luck and take your time
