they aren't that easy to come by out here, always have my eye out for a cheaper one (that and a quad cab OBS dually) but they are either trashed and rusted out or really overpriced.

14 Bolt SF's are REALLY hard to come by in my neck of the woods as well. Every now and then I find one, but its out of a 2wd truck or if it is from a 4wd truck, it's shot to shit. There's a local shop that sells them for 1200 a piece. I have no idea if they've been rebuilt and/or had a locker or LSD put in, but that's damn expensive. I see a bunch of FF 14 bolts though. Anyhow, 96Procomp, you'll find one someday. Nice vid post by the way, haha.

but i do need to find a 14bolt. have to remember to measure the stocker tomorrow and see if the wrecking yards have one on friday. (sure they will since im broke right now... how it always works.)

Oh, whoops, haha, sorry I misread.

That IS how it works though, things are easy to come by when you don't have the funds, and if you do have the funds, whatever you're looking for is nowhere to be found.

There's many Suburbans around here, but I don't see 2500s much either.

14 bolt rear from a 2500 Silverado/Sierra Suburban is what to look for?

From what years will they fit our trucks, mine in particular (98 yukon).

Is it a direct replacement deal, or what is needed for the swap? Do you keep the axles since they are 6 bolt?

My stock 8.5" 10 bolt is still going good

you need a 14bsf out of a mid 90s 2500 light duty or 1500HD heavy half I beleive....a 4x4 also since the 2wd has a more narrow rear. The swap is simple you need a conversion U joint and different U bolts and may need a proportioning valve for the rear brakes since the drums will be larger

i was under the influence that one out of any (88-99) OBS 2500 4x4 would swap in?

it will but itl be 8 lug unless light duty as stated. i think you can convert to 6 but im not completely sure

6 lug of course, guess is should have been more specific. did the 88-94's have a different width or something?

A little update, found a local shop I am going to see that does differential work. Going to see them this weekend. Lately their main line of business is moster truck chassis. Should be a cool place to go see. I really need to get moving on this.

I wish! I just ordered the Power slot rotors and hawk pads a few minutes ago. I need to do teh steering speed sensor and a blower motor too but it is so cold outside and we are geting an ice storm tonight, tuesday, then again thursday I think. I hate this time of year for working on truck

i thought i read somewhere that the steering sensor was in 98 and up trucks. Is that correct or would my 96 have one?
