If so, can I see your setup?? Here is mine. I am looking to figure something else out. I would really prefer to have something suspended under the driver's seat, but the power seats don't allow that... Anyone figure out a better spot than this??

I guess we are talking about "packing". In my 2010 Tahoe, I place my weapon in the slot on the driver's side interior door panel. It's easy to reach should I need to do so, and I still have room to place a cup if I want to.

I'm amazed that my 1995 Chevrolet two-door short bed pickup has more out of sight places to store stuff than the 2010 Tahoe. Geez. :wtf2:

"seems like an overall bad idea... "

Why? If you are suggesting that guns are a bad idea, I am certainly not going to have that debate on this forum, or with anyone on the internet for that matter...

And all I meant by packing is where you carry your gun in your car...

Just curious. I like it in a place where only I can access it with others in the car, so this spot seems to work out well. I can easily put it from my 4:00 to this spot and back without anyone noticing from outside the car.

I also do not mean to stir up anything, and I know this is a sensitive issue on my old BMW forum... If so, just let me know, and mods can remove this thread.

not a bad spot at all! I have started working on a drawer type thing that slides in and out of the center counsel cubby space. Will have to get some pics up, but it is on hold right now. Also have a glock!

Although my ccw is in the mail right now and for me I can wear my gun all day in my Crossbread super tuck holster I will probably just keep it there.

While this should be kept in the lounge, I see where it would fit in this forum since we're talking about carrying in the truck. As long as we keep it civil and friendly it should be alright.:Handshake:

I am ok with keeping it civil!

And Puckhead, I would be interested in seeing some pictures. Sounds interesting.

I also keep mine in my CTAC tuckable IWB holster, but on longer trips, I like to give my kidney a break!

Oh I'm all for guns, I live in Texas. I just don't think we should necessarily encourage gun carrying like that... for instance it's illegal in some states, some cities (For example, Chicago was until recently).

The day I'm 21 you better bet I'll be in my CHL class :)

Like that?? Not sure what you mean?? It is not a legal issue for me as a CCW holder, to carry it there or anywhere else I please in my vehicle or on my persons (except the excluded areas, govt building, churches, and the like).

And thanks for that link above. Noone here has done anything too creative. I had a great setup in the beemer, where the cell phone dock option was in the center console lid... Unfortunately, GM doesnt have that coincidental feature. Glovebox, no, too inaccessible, Center console is slow and too many moves, inbetween the seat works and console works I guess. Ill leave it mounted unless I see good pictures of this "drawer" mentioned above!

I keep my M&P9 Compact + spare mag in a Desantis Nemesis Cargo holster. This gets shoved down in between the driver's seat cushion and console and fits nice and snug. Good retention and doesn't move around at all. I can draw it very quickly and it's not easily seen by anyone in nearby vehicles....but my tint helps with that, as well....

On my Hip unless for some reason I take it off it goes in the seat pocket behind the passenger seat. Have fun getting pulled over with it in between the seat or up under the dash like in the OP.

Have been pulled over twice with one mounted underneath the dash (in my old car, VW jetta), and one on my hip. Both were when I was driving back and forth to college, it was not like I was just carrying two guns for no reason. But I handed the trooper my license, insurance and CCW card at the same time and informed him where each gun was. Both times, they let me go with a warning. I think they both appreciated the honesty and knowing that they are not dealing with a criminal because they see that I have been through the background check for the CCW and also have proper training to carry. I know if I was a cop I would want to know that whoever I am dealing with has a gun or not...

I plan to just slide it in the console while I'm pulling over should it ever happen. I can easily do it one handed without taking my eyes off the road and being obvious so it shouldn't be an issue. I have a CCW, so in the end I'll just make sure the windows are down, dome light is on, hands are on the wheel, etc. as the officer walks up. In Nebraska you are required by law to inform the officer if you are armed so I'll announce my CCW tactfully the first chance I get....

Here in ontario you are not allowed to carry a handgun in such a concieled manner. The only thing I pack is a powerful fist.

Yup. PA it is not required to notify the officer, but I feel that it is the right thing to do.
As unnoticeable as sneaking it into the center console as you might think it is, that may not be a great idea! Police are trained for this sort of thing, and that really makes it seem like you are trying to hide something that you do not need to be hiding!

Anyway, this has turned into more of a carry etiquette / opinion thread than it needs to be.

Thanks for the input everyone. Stay safe!

For the record.. I love guns, I own guns, and I travel (out of town) with a .45 under the cup holders, by the stock amp. The mag is in the holder right on the pistol.

I see a lot of people saying certain hiding places are "too many moves away".... where the hell do you drive? I don't think there's a problem with having a pistol close by when traveling somewhere you're unfamiliar with, but do we really need quick draw capability in our normal commute? If so, maybe you should rethink your route.

Well, what I've learned in my short life is that crappy/scary/dangerous situations don't always make appointments. I could keep my fire extinguisher in a box buried underneath other boxes in a storage room with a locked door and get to it in time if the fire made an appointment ahead of time. But fires usually aren't that thoughtful, so I keep a couple extinguishers in places that I have extremely quick access should a fire start somewhere.

Same goes for my gun. I could keep it my vehicle in the console or glove box unloaded with the ammo separate, but then I'd have to tell some bad guy that is trying to jack me to hold on one minute while I retrieve my weapon and load it--then he can proceed to try to jack me.

I'm a realist. I've seen and heard of enough bad shit happening to good people when they didn't expect it so I decided to take control and not rely on luck. I avoid dangerous situations at all cost but sometimes they're bound to find you.
