Which do you guys believe is the best CAI on the market? I have a spectre now, but i dont think it really did a f*ckin thing for my performance. Money is not really an issue so throw me any ideas you have!

I'd say the Volant CAI. Rather than being an exposed cone filter like other brands, it utilizes an enclosed box, preventing any hot air emitted from the engine from being sucked in. That's what I plan on getting. Just my two cents.

Volant seem to be favored because of the closed in filter. Pretty much what, grimm stated.

I personally run a Volant and like it.

If you do..buy it from a member here named, Volant1. His name is Danie and works for them, I'd give you his number but I don't have my phone on me.

I agree, closed in filters on a CAI would be best.

Right now i could not afford a good CAI system,so for now i settled for a Spectre drop in filter.Atleast it flows better and its enclosed by the stock air box.

If and when i do get a CAI system,i to will most likely go with the Volant system.

stock air cleaner

i have read through this thread and i have a question. what makes the aftermarket cold air intake better than the stock one? i have a 96 tahoe that when i bought it new i ordered it with the extra large air cleaner. it uses a pretty big canister shaped filter, it is closed to the engine compartment and it sucks cold air from fender well area. the opening is probably about 4". it seems like it would be just as good if not better than some of the cai kits i have seen.

Mainly cuz a good CAI reduces the ridges, bends, baffles, and restrictive caps that are on alot of stock air systems.

Pretty much all aftermarket CAI systems are Dyno tested against the stock system to see if their are any gains and or benefits over the stock system.Once said company has noticed significant gains,it will then put the product into production and onto public market.
