Any hope with this rust?

This is the underside of a 2015 Yukon. Is there anything that can improve the situation? What can be done? And how long do I have before I have a serious problem?

Seriously, thats just surface rust on the frame. You can take it to a body shop or look up places by you that can wool wax or coat the frame.

I did a Rustoration on my '97 Yukon. I used Corroseal on my frame and everywhere else I could reach with a brush. It converts rust into a hard black magnetite coating. I am very happy with the results.

If there’s no rust holes or flaking you’re probably good for another 10 years. For a 2015 I wouldn’t bother with going crazy with rust prevention I’d ride it out.

It doesn't look flaky, which is good. I'd be more concerned with rockers, doors, fenders, etc. Some rust converter on that and let it cure. Then coat with fluid film or wool wax - drench it and let it drip onto the lawn or gravel for a day or so in hot temps. It'll creep everywhere it needs to go.

It'll me it a bit of a mess and need to be re-applied from time to time depending on your location but it'll stop it from getting worse. Around here where it's common for winters it's $120 or so. Don't know what it costs in an area where it's not much of a normal thing to do.

I'd say expect around $500 or so for a fluid film job. You can do it yourself for about $300 with supplies and applicator gun - then you have it for touch ups over time. I bought a professional rust proofing gun many years back and it's paid for itself many times over.

I sprayed mine myself. It's a bit of a pain. How are the body seams? Specifically the lower inner seams of the doors and tailgate, the inner leading edge of the hood, and the rear fender lips. Much more serious problems if you see rust there.

It all depends on his area of residence. The 2015 and newer models here in the Midwest already have rusted out rocker panels and rear quarter panels on the XL models.......it's worth an afternoon and some fluid film in my book. Then it will last 10 years if there's any hint of salt.

Well that's bad that you're in an area that's going to get rust but good that it should have places that do the good style of rust proofing. It's usually the further south you go the rarer the places are.
If you do it yourself make sure you spray inside the frame and various panels too not just on the surfaces that are easiest to see.
