Were do i buy one Need to get the vehicle started with it

they claimed it has an "electrical" issue

but they also said they got it started 6 times but "sounded like a diesel engine" most likely the AFM failed upon first startup 0 mile must be a new record for GM...Here is the appropriate gif :Grenade:

one Cam code and one engine hybrid Stall code

hybrid Vehicle Stall Code P0AB9 Air fuel mixture code the 2 year old gas might have been why replaced with new 91 octane...

i'm already in the hole $9400 on this repair... engine rebuild and hybrid battery module

it's still illogical to buy a 7 year old 2019 Cramy for $20,000 with 80,000 miles on it

At this point, I'd suggest that you invest in an Autel scanner, as it is much easier to source, and if you end up needing tp program a module, the Autel scanner can connect with the GM programming site and obtain the program data (the Tech 2 can no longer connect with the GM programming site).

is this new? Last time I tried was in like 2023/24. I’m using tech2win though. Idk if that makes a difference
It is relatively new, though, I believe that it was somewhat prior to your listed dates. The last time that I attempted to use my Tech 2 to program, I had to contact GM Support, and receive a special 24 hour access to their old programming format that the Tech 2 used, and they had to go to the second level of Support to obtain approval for this access for me, and they were clearly not happy about it.

is the Autel scanner going to have 360Volt Hybrid charging? via the bi-directional 12Volt input?

i mean if i got to spend 500-1000 it will be fine as the Autel scaner will also work on my 2013 toyota corolla and 2018sonic ?

All good questions to direct to Autel Support, for a certified answer.

ONE THING TO NOTE ABOUT AUTEL SCANNERS PURCHASES AND SUPPORT: To obtain Autel USA support, you must purchase your Autel scanner DIRECTLY from Autel. If you purchase the scanner from another vendor (like Amazon), there is no guarantee that you will be supported by Autel USA Support; in fact, you probably won't be. If that becomes that case, you need to find out what country's Autel Support team, if there is one, will support you, if support is needed.

I got my tech 2 for 200$ off that China diagnostic website a few years back linked to here. but I think they stopped selling them.

I'd just get one off Amazon or ebay at this point. while a newer mainsteam scanner is definitely worth the money for most. I do worry they won't have all the pids and controls for the old small segment of gm hybrids. I'd just spend the 200$ or so on the clone tech 2 in this case. if you need to program anything the 150$ stand alone pass thru still makes it cheaper.

good luck with it. what engine did you end up going with. I'm seeing on the other boards, there's a different front cam gear setup on the hybrid vvt, to match the hybrid only cam. one guy that replaced the cam gear when his timing chain jumped. used a standard part number vvt gear and the truck would hardly run. it was off timing by a ton. might explain your diesel sound comment.

could have also left the coil pack ground off, and it was running off 4cyl haha.

Others have mentioned getting a good scan tool, like one from Autel. They make a decent tool. You might also consider TopDon. Specifically for your "2008 Tahoe HY2 6.0L VVT 2LM70 4 speed +80HP EVT 3.08 G8", I'd start with the Phoenix Plus 2 or Phoenix Max (depends on your budget). I'd also add a J2534 passthrough like one of the RLink models from TopDon. I've owned, and currently own, multiple scan tool models from TopDon, Autel, Launch, and Innova. My go to brand has settled on TopDon. Autel would be my second choice. A lot is due to personal preference, but a biggy is tech support. Autel is picky about what model you buy and who you buy it from. Basically, Autel has "U.S." market models, and global models. They're exactly the same tools, but have a different letter or two in the model name. TopDon doesn't have different models for different markets. If it has the TopDon name on it, U.S. support supports it. No confusion with support.

You can't go wrong, really, with either TopDon, Autel, or even Launch. But a good scan tool is really a required tool to have for our GMT900s. That and a J2534 passthrough so you can use GM TDS software (SPOS2, tech2Win, etc.). Basically, the J2534 replaces the old Tech2. With my Phoenix Plus 2, J2534 RLink, Phoenix Scope (oscilloscope), TopDon thermal camera, and TopDon BT Mobil ProS battery/charging sys tester, there hasn't been anything I haven't been to CORRECTLY diagnose and repair on our Tahoes.

which autel is that? and I would assume that you still have to pay the $45 vin fee?

You have to pay per vin for Autel?
I would assume so for gm module programming, not just in general. If it is connecting to gm then someone has to pay for it, gm charges $45 for 2 years Per vin, shops can get better pricing for bulk of course
and as far as I know "some" autel scanners can do programming but require a completely separate adapter that cost's like $800+ "maxiflash" and the newer 2021 gm's require another adapter on top of that "can-fd" which cost another $75

I know Top Don is free updates for the first two years then like 150 a year after to stay current updates. If you don't wanna pay the scanner still works as normal. Just no updates.
The Top Don J2534 pass through costs 250, and you need a laptop to connect that to the GM TDS website for programming. Each vin with GM is $45 or was.

I tried getting ahold of them but haven't got a response back

on buying the correct scanner

I asked them about the support for the Battery Energy Control Module Jump Assist function

haven't heard back from them
