Long story short I was in a parking lot and a person decided to go in reverse a hit the gas I had time to stop fully and go in reverse when I did I heard a bang come from the transmission and or differential didn’t think much of it as I should have. When leaving I took off normal and this time in drive it shifted hard and shook the whole Yukon and did not want to drive anymore. Pushed it to the side of the road and was messing with the gear shifter and noticed I still have reverse and 1st but no drive, had it towed from there. And ideas or suggestions I still need to drop the pan for any type of troubleshooting or should I just go full rebuild. It’s a 2008 5.3 and 4l60e

So you have reverse and 1st, but no higher gears?

Check your shifter cable/linkage on transmission.
IF you're lucky, the shifter bushing is worn/missing, which might not let you place shift selector in proper position..

But a loud bang is usually a bad sign...

@NickTransmissions ?

If NONE forward gears at all, check your shifter cable/linkage on transmission.

Shifter works due to being able to put it in park, reverse and manual down to first gear, I put it on jack stands and it will manually go into first second and reverse just not into drive

I thought so too at first but I lifted the rear on jack stands to get the tires off the ground and put in in reverse and in first and they move no problem no whining or skipping from the rear but that’s under no road load

If you have manual first and reverse but no forward movement when the shifter is in drive (D4) or drive three (D3), your input sprag has failed. Trans needs to come out for overhaul and torque converter replaced.

Reply with your questions here and I’ll respond when I can.

I’ve turned off PMs as too many were trying to ask me questions there which is completely redundant to asking them in the forum.

Question 1) Do you do public work if so where are you located.

Question 2) For a rebuild of 4L60E would you accept parts that i buy for it and shop provides anything else needed for build or is it shop only provides the parts. (if parts are accepted a list would be sent for approval)

Question 3) Does transmission have to be out of vehicle or can it be delivered with vehicle (im aware shops will charge for drop and install)

Question 4) If work can be done by you how much would it be (if so price can be discussed in a PM)

i do apologies if the questions are too much, i do appreciate your time. thank you!

Thank you for considering me for a rebuild and good questions!

1. I do accept work and am located in Las Vegas, Nevada

2. I buy all the parts; most shops including me don’t accept customer parts due to warranty liability reasons

3. Transmission and torque converter must be out of the vehicle and brought or shipped to me

4. I will send you a PM so we can chat further about options and pricing based on application, engine power, etc.
