2019 Tahoe. My touchscreen has been going haywire now and then. Was playing around with the tone controls and the balance control went full right side. Tried to move the icon on the display, tried the left arrow, screen response is dead for that. So, is there a reset for the radio back to OE settings without losing the Sirius hookup? Don't really want to unhook the battery and not sure that would do it anyway.

Don't care about the presets or tone curves. Just to get it back to something usable.

You could remove the fuse for the radio, but you’ll still need to locate the fuse that runs the clock in order to do a full reset.

It might be easir to do the battery disconnect.

Does it act strange in other settings like using hvac or navigation? If so sounds like the touch screen might be going. If not either pull the fuses or disconnect the battery.

This screen on our 2019 only controls the radio and Onstar which I don't use at all. The dead section is mostly near the right center of the screen which doesn't get much action. Except for these balance controls. Did some research and found a couple suggested ways to reset or return to factory settings. I'm hoping this helps and doesn't foul up the SiriusXM reception. Seems weird that this is an ongoing problem with this series, usually a touch screen hardly ever fails like this.

resetting the radio will not fix a bad digitizer, the fix is to replace the screen, you can do just the digitizer but the job is much easier to just do the whole screen
takes a couple hours. note that dealer will not do this job they will just charge you a LOT to replace the whole thing.
you buy this
then you watch this video, when you are at the workbench or dinner table, etc taking the lcd cage apart take photos of the disassembly process as the ribbon cables have to go back the exact same way.
CLICK ON THE PLAY BUTTON AND IT WILL TAKE YOU TO YOUTUBE

I did buy the complete screen a while back, plug and play deal. But I haven't found a video that shows the removal with the screen like ours that raises up to open the storage compartment. Could be something different with that? I don't want to screw this up. For now I'd just like to get the balance centered.

the video I linked shows exactly that, same as my wife's truck. that's why I said the ribbon cables have to be placed back the exact same way because the screen goes up & down.
her's was doing the same thing as what you are reporting
even though it says video unavailable just click on the play button (on the link above) and it will take you to youtube and play the video.

That play button goes to YouTube's main page, not the indicated video.

See if this link will work (is this the right one?):

I just tried it on 4 different browsers and I am only signed in on chrome, all worked for me
anyway the title is pictured above by Jason A it's in depth enough to get the job done, except the final reassembly, which I would take photo's while taking it apart, it helped me to be 100% sure I did it right I didn't want it to self destruct on the first time it lifted up

By golly, that's it exactly. Looks like a real all day chore there too. Thanks for taking the time to get the link working! When I do this I'll put some lube on all those one way snap in retainers too, just in case.

Only other tip I can provide is when reassembling the interior center console be sure all the pieces are lined up correctly (and that everything is plugged back in). I thought I was done and then went and sat in the passenger seat and d%^&*it some of the trim pieces were not in there slots correctly so I had to take half of it apart again and re-do it, it all goes together like a puzzle and some parts cover others so if the one underneath is not right then it's back to step 1.
overall it's easier than it looks

I'd bet the guy that did this the first time really had a time figuring this out.

Finally got a chance to work on this. Followed the video linked above (Thanks!) and it was exactly what I needed. Sure not easy to get those one way push in fasteners out. Screen and radio working fine, so far. How did we live without the internet?
