Just diving into this issue. 2024 GMC Yukon less than 1 year old, everything was working find then all the sudden not sound for Sirius XM, AM or FM however sound works for streaming Android Auto, GPS, Google, OnStar and Bluetooth cell calls.

Guessing it may either be a Serial Data Gateway corruption problem, Sirius XM antenna or the radio module itself. I do not recall seeing any updates, but there may have been something in the background.

Tried the soft reset by holding down the End Call button on the steering wheel a few times, no luck. I have noticed that I have had a bunch of strange hang ups and delays either with Google Maps or Waze is SLOW AS MOLASSES to boot and load. But when I performed my most recent End Call reset, I noticed I had a few text message alerts pop on the radio display. One or maybe a few were not recent, they were from some time ago, so it appears these Infotainment systems have memory management problems. Memory buffer not getting purged. Will see if I get a hard reset if this fixed my radio problem and/or SLOW WAZE.

I have also had problems where randomly on a Bluetooth phone call, I think the call drops, but it looks like the call drops off Bluetooth, back to my phone for 20-30 seconds then reacquires to Bluetooth. Most recent instance was yesterday a day or so after the radio problem showed up.

Contacted OnStar to perform a radio reset, but not sure they really could do it because all my favorites were still showing. Most hard resets dump presets.

Should be an option for Safe Mode or Hard Reset in the Infotainment menus, need to look and try. I also have a few advanced scan tools that should be capable of radio reset as well.

Will update if I have any success, also aware of the N242435631-01 Serial Data Gateway and Radio Customer Satisfaction Program, not sure this is my issue, but will see what happens with Safe Mode and/or Hard Reset if I can find and execute these options.

As the world burns, GM are you listening!

Quick update

Put Radio/Infotainment system in Safe Mode, this seemed to get Sirius XM, AM and FM working so at least I know the antenna and radio unit should be working properly, however, I need to let the vehicle sit for a bit for the Radio/Infotainment system to come back out of Safe Mode and see if this solves the problem for now. Have a 6+ hour trip coming up in a few days so I will have some time if the vehicle to see if things continue to function if I get Sirius, AM and FM back.

Point of reference, when the Radio/Infotainment system is in Safe Mode, you will see "Safe Mode" displayed in the lower left corner of the Infotainment display.

Will see what happens once system is out of Safe Mode and for how long things work properly if this solved the issue for now. Will also see if Waze if more responsive as well.

Wait and see!

Update #2

Waited for a while to allow Radio/Infotainment system to revert back to normal out of Safe Mode. Seems switching the system into Safe Mode corrected the Sirius, AM, FM problem for now. Waze still take 45+ seconds to boot. Need to see if I can uninstall and reinstall Waze to see if this helps things.

As a side item, I went through all the installed Apps and cleared the Cache to free up some memory. Uninstalled and re-installed Waze, however, I should have probably let the vehicle sit overnight before reinstalling Waze and/or perform a soft reset by holding the End Call button before reinstalling Waze.

So at least for the 2 hours or so after I put the Radio/Infotainment system in Safe Mode I have had working Sirius as well as AM/FM. We shall see how things go over the rest of the week, have about 10 hours plus in the truck between now and Friday.

Putting this info out here to hopefully help others, possibly save trips to the dealer, having the vehicle torn apart possibly for nothing. OnStar did not suggest Safe Mode, but I was unaware of this until I did some digging after I spoke with OnStar and found this as an option.

Not really an Android issue, more of a problem with the hardware because it probably started development in 2015/2016 to be in production by Sept 2020. Not enough processor power, memory and RAM, the same old story. Then the hardware is already effectively 10 years old at this point, everything 3 years old is already dated in most cases unless the developers put the fastest processor they can get at the time and have enough memory and RAM in the device.

Then add to it the fact that any AOSS complaint Apps need to be tweaked to display on the screen properly and not distract the driver. The developers do not spend the time to get the AOSS complaint Apps developed like they tend to do for phones and tablets.

I just received an update (GM N25-250380) today that seems to address audio issues and other problems. Hopefully this can resolve the issues you are facing.

@BigdawgR6,

Thanks for the follow up. I will need to check out what version I currently have and if there is an update. I checked for an update a few days ago and nothing was showing as available.

At least after I toggled the Infotainment system in and out of "Safe Mode" my Sirius, AM & FM has been working and worked for the 7 hours I was in the truck yesterday.

I need to also try the System Reset by holding down the End Call button for 20 seconds, I understood it could be done while driving, then I read the vehicle needed to be in Park. I do not think I have tried the System Reset while it Park yet, I will try it just for the fun of it here in a bit.

I can't remember off the top of my head but I think you go in the menu and you poke around in system and there's an option for safe mode. If that doesn't work respond back and I'll have to actually go get in the vehicle and retrace my steps.

@2024 White Tahoe

Thanks for posting the bulletin info.

I had another strange radio anomaly just the other day. In this situation, just the "Radio" stopped or went silent. No Sirius/XM no local FM broadcast. But I was able to pull up a streaming service on my phone and play that as I also heard clicks when using the touch screen so the problem was not "Amplifier" related.

I was just driving and the "Radio" cut out about 1 hour into a trip.

I was waiting to pick someone up from the airport, I recall shutting the engine off and then what I was streaming quit when the vehicle when to "Sleep".

Seems that the "Radio" came back on its own once I restarted the vehicle to make the pickup at the airport terminal and the "Radio" worked fine for the 50 or so minute ride back.

I was planning on trying "Safe Mode" for the "Radio" loss, but I was not in a situation where I had time to try this, but the "Radio" seemed to recover on its own once the vehicle went to "Sleep" and I restarted the engine.

So far I have only had these 2 "Audio" related problems, but I do not drive the vehicle daily, often may go weeks without driving it. Tend to use it more for longer trips at this point.

I will try to keep aware of the problem and also check to see if any of my more advanced scan tools can real the software/firmware versions of the "Radio" or "Amplifier" and note what I may be running at this point.
