Add my 2024 Yukon XL AT4 to the passed list. They completed the inspection today.

The service advisor’s maddening “now you know the oil is essentially the same as the Corvette and will cost a lot more” message made me want to punch him in the face an kick the GM CEO in the ******!!! Thanks GM for making your phuuck up my expense for the remainder of the life I own your vehicle with a potentially defective engine. This should catch them a class-action law suit, of which I’d gladly participate to be made whole for this whole debacle!

I had been using the Range AFM Disabler since buying it last May, including today driving the 150 miles to the dealer. I pulled it out before pulling inside the service area and nothing was said by anyone at the dealership that they could see I'd been using something.

It depends on how many miles have passed since the oil change. Generally, blackening of the oil after 700 miles is completely normal. It means the oil is working to clean the engine.

I When I made my post It was the day I changed my oil. In no way shape or form would 0w-40 oil get turn that way within two weeks. And I don’t any road trips or long drives. Hell I just crossed 12K miles and I’m the original owner. I’m sticking with the dealership didn’t change my oil and said they did.

Context- last time I changed my oil before the dealership was about 7 months ago.

Wut? Last time i changed my oil was 7 months ago. So I would expect that. Every time I do my oil change i add a quart of “syn transmission oil” for at least 100 miles before I drain it. My mileage between changes is 800 - 1200. Usually twice a year I change it because I baby the hell out of my rig.

Nothing wrong at all about taking care of a large investment like I am sure he/she has made. I don't understand why there is a need for a quart of synthetic transmission oil, unless he/she thinks it will keep it cleaner. I would appreciate an explanation from @Mma-007.

Then yes, there's a chance the dealer is scamming me. I didn't think it was even possible in today's world, especially in the US. I had exactly the same situation in Russia 18 years ago. I always check the oil level before leaving the shop after a maintenance check. I had a Volkswagen Touareg back then, and they were doing my maintenance. I walked up to the car and pulled out the dipstick. And there was black oil. There was a huge scandal back then; as it turned out, European dealers often changed the oil every other time because the service interval in Europe is 30,000 km, while in Russia it was 10,000 km.

What does "engineering analysis" mean? Does that mean that they're considering that the issue is design-related (and not -- or not just -- related to a run of defective parts)?

While the exact document link does not appear to exist at the moment, if you look at the link below for NHTSA "Investigations" is indicated that EA25007 is the "Investigation" that is currently being looked into.

"The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 1,157 reports of engine bearing failure failures in the L87 6.2L engine produced by General Motors (GM). Of the 1,157 reports received, 173 are outside of the scope of recall 25V-274"

So 173 engine bearing failures have apparently been reported/documented that fall outside of the vehicles included in the 25V-274 Recall. Not good news, but not unexpected.

The question are these 173 engine failures BEFORE/AFTER or BOTH when compared to the 25V-274 Recall window?? So how far beyond the windows either before and/or after do these 173 engine failures encompass?

Use this link - https://www.nhtsa.gov/search-safety-issues then locate the date window of 10/21/2025-10/27/2025 and then selected the "Investigation" button.

As I said before, did GM avoid the 2025's knowing they might have to buy the vehicle back due to the Lemon Law in many states? Most lemon laws are 30 days out of service in the first year of ownership.

From the 2025 first oil filters I have cut open, the 2025's did not look promising for long term survival with the amount of metal and debris in the filter elements. The oil analysis did not look bad, but at 500 miles, you get a lot of wear in metals in the oil samples anyway. I will have a 4500 mile oil sample to review here soon on one of the 2025 that I have inspected the oil filter on and I have to get the 2nd oil filter and cut it open and inspect it as well.

This is not on my vehicle, but someone I know quite well.
