I’m using a 2008 Yukon Denali for the base of my 1941 Cadillac project and it will not have airbags. Does anyone know if ECU (or BCM) can be programmed to turn off airbag warnings? I’m also getting park assist errors, I’m not sure f that can fixed or turned off.

Thanks for any insight you may have!

I cannot find any ECM codes to turn off the airbag light. (The one that says 'Loss of communications with SDM' is already set to 'No error reported')
Do you have the airbag module plugged in? I was hoping not plugging it in might work.

If a BCM thing, the only guy I know of who programs them is Ben Taylor of BTDieselworks.

Park assist.. the later years you can remove the park assist module..
I don't think that works on 07-09.. I have a feeling there might be cluster programming to take the message off... (GM)

guys bypass airbags when replacing seats a lot in sports cars. might look into what they are doing. I believe they sell Sims you plug in and the car thinks the airbags are there still.

work around but might be the easiest.

I have the airbag module plugged in (engine wouldn’t start without it), but all airbags and sensors have been removed. I’ll probably just block the airbag light in the gauge cluster but the warning message would be nice to eliminate. It’s a high priority message and blocks other messages from being displayed.

have you tried. stuff like this?

I'm pretty sure the Airbag module just wants to see the correct resistance across the 2 wires. some dummy plugs and you'd probably be fine.

that or fund the 2 can wires going into the module and jump them. so the network is still up. but the module isn't on it reporting codes. this is done to the back air ride module when they fail form being outside in the salt for 20 years. there's a bunch of youtube videos on it. try the same with the airbag module?

That's a bummer. The airbag sdm module only has low speed lan.
I would not have thought it would prevent engine start..

Pretty sure I had pulled airbag fuse before and drove without issue?
(When I purchased truck 3 years ago and wasn't sure if passenger airbag recall had been done or not)

If your swapping the engine into a classic car you don't need any of those modules, just the PCM and the factory engine harness modified to delete the irrelevant components & a tune that removes all the interactions with the BCM (which is what communicates with all the other modules and the PCM)
