Yes. Parts Geek. TRQ brand. I’m not sure what a sitting still OEM bounce feels like, but this in-motion bounce is abnormal to me. I recall the Cadillac ride I had when I purchased the truck. This is faaar from it. Should there be a “Settle in” time for these struts?
the TRQ brand is a 1A auto part, (they own TRQ) my personal experience with there parts is less than stellar.....
the only thing that would "settle or break in" is the strut spring height if you purchased a complete new strut rather than just the shock.
when new it may lift the truck and inch or so but would settle after a few weeks

Yesss, per their written instructions, give it time to let the coil-over settle. I’ve order from them in the past without incident. Josep Garcia makes a good observation. Z55 & Z95. When placing my order, I provided my VIN and I believe a part number. Chevy informed me the part numbers have change from a few years ago when I looked into getting new shocks & struts. I guess I need to ascertain what I actually have; Z55 or Z95 since they both have the MagnaRide system.

True! Let me say, I’ve gone years needing these struts & shocks to where they were shot. I’m rocking side to side or up & down over bumps. There were times I’d take it for service, they’d raise it to perform service and when I got in to go home there was such a nice ride compared to rocking & swaying I was used to. Struts/shock expanding… That softness over bumps is what I got after installing them (fronts). Not still bounce. The rear seem fine, I guess cause those are actual air…. lol. That’s what I mean about working and not. It could’ve been they hadn’t settle down?

I have a similar experience when I installed aftermarket Arnott magneride. It rode great at first, but after 1000 miles, it seems to have gotten more bouncy. I do realize the feeling "bouncy" is subjective and I think partially, I have gotten used to the ride and now am noticing every single bump. I will soon swap the stock springs into my arnotts to see if it's less bouncy. The arnott springs have added 1.5 inches lift up front.
Also many aftermarket companies that offer magneride offer active and passive versions. passive is a bypass version that disables magneride.

Yes. Parts Geek. TRQ brand.

With all the facts, an Internet diagnosis is ez.

Only one brand shows applicable for 07 Tahoe with z55/autoride …

IMG_3253.jpeg

All the other options show for the rear, without z55, exc. z55 with RPO Code Z95 (MagneRide Suspension) or excluding z55.

The only option for TRQ shows as …

A Conversion kit made of subpar hydraulic shocks with resistors…

Or .., the actual AC Delco z55 replacements guaranteed for life.

All the other options are not applicable or incorrect. The TRQ conversion kit is already known to be inferior.

The subpar options currently available cause so many, so much grief & frustration as well as draining their wallet, it’s important to help others from duplicating the same process.

Yeah, it’s out. Gonna send that out for repair. I plan to purchase an inexpensive bi-directional scanner where I can ascertain what’s going on rather than paying a shop a diagnostic fee PLUS… I did stop in a Chevy service shop where the system was scans the vehicle when it comes in the service door. They saw nothing wrong. That was probably a preliminary scan of the system? Idk. All this computer crap! One can dislike or like it. I’m scheduled for service so they can look into my issue. They’ll probably tell me I need to buy OEM. I think I may be on to something, given conversations here.

A while back I was informed my Tahoe has the Z55 suspension. Another conversation I was informed I had the Magnaride struts, so I was always looking for the Magnaride struts which is why I purchased them.

If the Z 95 & 55 utilize the same strut(s) and it’s the ECU that dictates their functionality then my problem lay with the ECU? But, I had no issue with the old struts other than old and leaking. If the same struts are used then the ECU should adjust according to its programming, yeah?

Yes, that’s for 2009+ z95 / Magneride. You’re Susp control module (software) doesn’t control the valves on that or the mag fluid.

R/A has the correct struts, for less, plus a 5% discount code. An Indi shop can install the z55 in 90 min. It’s one of these two…

Your vehicle has z55 suspension. z95 was not available until 2009, if that helps and … only if you had a hybrid Yukon Denali or Escalade.

Parts Geek will take your incorrect struts back but only if you let them know they’re bouncy and inform them the packaging appeared as though it was damaged or dropped.

You’ve only got to do it right once.

Yes, that helps. Thank! I didn’t know about the yr Z95 came out. I do have the FlexFuel version of the Tahoe.

I did purchase a 2yr service contract, but who wants to take all that off to return em. Ugh! Had I been equipped with the correct knowledge, I’d be doing this once. But, I am learning a lot here and hopefully the shop can correct things.

No biggie. Here’s the rear set up…

IMG_3257.jpeg

At least you didn’t wait until 190k to replace your struts like me.

The shop will gladly swap them out if your service contract covers the leaky rear main seal and motor mounts. It’s a huge labor job they’ll gladly take on.

Hahaha …

Discount code page

If you have coverage for gaskets and seals be sure they replace leaky pan, steering rack and leaky coolant reservoir/ radiator before times up

That coverage, long gone. lol. I did have some things addressed, but given my experience with these shops, I like to be involved. I have the knowledge, apparently not all, lol but.. I changed the value cover gaskets. It looked intimidating at first, with all the harnesses etc.

@Scheme1 Get the proper shocks Z55 (electronic suspension system, not Magneride suspension system), and you will be good to go. Expensive mistake, but a learning experience. The RPO codes in your glove box are your friends in obtaining the proper parts.

Thanks, Joseph! I had just come to that conclusion. Yes, what an expensive educational moment and mistake. But, I’ve joined a forum full of good people with experience & knowledge. Now the worst part is uninstalling, finding boxes, shipping em back etc… lol. Again, thank you.

Make sure you call them to get a RMA # before you ship back. Emphasize damaged box and they’ll likely email u a UPS label to slap on and pay for return shipping. PG will receive reimbursement when they get the damaged box back.
