Seems like what they list is for a full blown dealership setup.
Can anyone list what their system specs are they use with the GM TDS website?
Thanks!

My desk top is win11 pro, I7 14700KF, 32GB.
My laptop is win11, I3 8130U, 8GB.
It's kinda hard to use my desk top out in the garage for vehicle programming but i could if all else fails.
I want to use my laptop for programming but it does not quite meet the minimum specs. I don't really want to upgrade to a new laptop but may need to.

Ok so i have it all working i think
In Tech Connect there is a tool for PC specs. My laptop passes everything except win10/11 pro. I only have win11 home on it.
When I read my vehicle it auto finds my VIN. It lists all available modules available. Picking the Lift Gate module it says, unrecognizable program.
Makes sense as it's out of a 2010 escalade.
Tried to replace/program it but it fails for some reason after two tries. Tried installing the newest calibration but that failed also after two tries.(May have bricked the module as now it does nothing)
Tried reading another module and again said unrecognizable program but i did not mess with it.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong?
I looked at the BCM and TCM and both of them read fine and listed what their program is with no updates available.

Wondering if the problem is my laptop, it's win11 home and not pro?

I'm not much help other than to say it's buggy as hell. mine failed often, watched a few YouTube videos. everyone hates the site. seems it's always a headache.

might try a few more times.

I believe someone else was able to use a lower spec laptop. I'll look for the thread

Thanks. I have read that thread.
My set up now matches all specs for the TDS pc checker. I have upgraded my laptop to Windows 11 pro but have not tried it after upgrading to pro.
I'm almost thinking I have something going on with wiring or the BCM but I do not get any codes from the BCM itself.
The rear gate now kinda works again. I can open it manually from the rear but not with the switch over head or the remote. Back to the original problem :(
The PO told me the rear gate would sometimes work and sometimes not. Guess im going to be cleaning all the ground wires i can find tomorrow and then try programming again.
Also, I have read it might help to unhook the battery for 5 minutes to help reset stuff and get it ready for programming.

Another question i have is.
If a module fails to program does that count against the module limit?

And just a little more on PC specs.
The PC check tool lists this as pass.
Win10/11 pro
My i3, 8130U cpu
8GB Ram
800GB free space.
Internet connection.
There may have been 1 or 2 more but i dont remember.

mine was cost per vin for 2 years unlimited.

so I don't know but mine failed at least 10 times between 2 cars updating 3 or so modules

Here is 1 part of what i can find about programming fails but the first 2 codes are what i get.

E4491/E4423/E6961 – Programming Failed
Cause:
These errors can be the result of an incompatibility between the software/calibrations and the module, a result of a condition that is not being met to allow a
successful programming event (e.g. incorrect voltage and/or aftermarket components), or a vehicle related issue (wiring, connector issue, aftermarket
components, etc.).
Resolution:
This type of issue cannot typically be resolved without assistance from TCSC. Be sure to have the original and service module part numbers and error detail
when contacting TCSC.
This can be confirmed by attempting to program the original module. Typically these errors cannot be resolved without the assistance of TCSC. Do not replace
the module. Contact TCSC and be sure to have the original module part number and the service part number when calling.

I haven't been following but if you have any aftermarket devices, pull those fuses. Radio, alarm, remote start, etc.

Are you using a battery maintainer while attempting programming?

Nothing aftermarket.
All i have is a battery charger, a 12V regulated power supply or a 1amp maintainer.
I had the charger hooked up on the attempt.

couple questions...
what are you using as the "interface" mdi? something else?
is the module you are attempting to program the exact same part number as the old one?

Using the TopDon j2534 pass through device.
No it is out of a 2010 Escalade.
Wonder if the old one i think is bad might program. Might try that.

that might be your issue, it won't program a module that is not for your vin, you need to have a 100% matching part number.
that's not to say it has to come out of the same vehicle it just needs to be the same part "or" one that is listed as compatible for your vin
only some things may have crossover parts like the radio module, not sure what else, some things like a brake module have to be identical.

if you put the old original one in and program it, it may tell you something to the effect of "already programmed" proceed anyway?
and if it works without throwing any errors then that pretty much confirms the issue.

I did not get a chance to try programming the module today.
I did swap the modules though. The original module seems to be working now though.
I did confirm the lift gate motor turns when commanded. The drive gear is not engaging and is new but could be bad. I will jump it and see if it activates tomorrow.
If it activates next move is to see if it is getting power to the module to drive the clutch part. If it is getting power the next step will be trying to program again.
Still could be a bad module, Needs updated programming or another new drive gear.

Did not try to program again today.
I messed with it for a few hours this morning and it appears the drive gear clutch part is bad.
Before i try programming again ill need to replace that.
