I have a 2021 Tahoe High Country. I have the driver seat set to retract for exit and then move back into position for entry. For some strange reason, the truck has started moving my driver side mirror too (to the wrong position). I have tried resetting the mirror position (both the exit position and the driving position) as well as changing the battery, but it is still doing it.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any fix for it?

Mods, I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. If you would be so kind, I would greatly appreciate it if this thread were moved to the 2021 year Exterior forum. Or, feel free to delete and I can repost there. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on my 2021 Yukon Denali.

It just started happening after about 45K miles.

I start the car and the drivers mirror will move as if it thinks I’m in reverse and it’s trying to help me (even if I’m still in Park). It will remain in the wrong position and I have to manually fix it, usually when I’m already driving and notice it at the wrong moment. This is dangerous.

It occurs with and without the reverse mirror tilting enabled in settings.

I haven’t been able to find a fuse that disables the power mirrors l, which would be an option.

My guess is it is dirt or grime on/or failing of the mirror position sensor within the mirror housing.
You could try to take it apart and clean it. I had this issue on my 2013 Suburban on the Passenger Side Mirror, but it was in the left/right positioning, not the up/down.
I could temporarily make it go away by using the mirror controls to manually put the mirror all the way in one direction, then all the way in the other. But it always came back.
When mine started doing it, vehicle had about 100k miles on it and I knew I was getting rid of it soon...so I just left it alone.

Could ask the dealer if there is some sort of position re-learn method to sort of reset it and start over...

I posted in another similar thread that I think it's going to be a matter of using the Settings menu, and then moving the mirror into the position you want, and also SAVING the settings into the Driver 1 or 2 setting (and maybe having the key fob learn it, too). It sounds to me like it's trying to revert to an old memory setting.

I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating this problem has been with my 85,000 dollar vehicle. It’s been back to the original dealer for this same problem for over a year and a half. 6 times they’ve attempted to resolve this issue and NEVER solved the problem. GM finally suggested I try another dealership. This dealership tells me it’s going to be 800 plus dollars because the car went out of warranty last month. I tell them this is an issue that been going on for over a year and a half. They don’t care. I tell them I want the car back so I can take it back to place of purchase. I go to pick up the car and they want $214 for diagnostics. Won’t release the car without payment. I paid, called GM and GM told me I’m not getting that 214 back and I’m welcome to take it back to the dealership I purchased the car from. The same dealership that’s replaced the passenger mirror completely once and the drivers mirror twice. FIVE TIMES that dealership has tried to fix this without success! Get in the car and look in the drivers mirror and it’s either pointed up in the trees or down to the ground. HELP!

2022 Tahoe High Country.

What were the results of the diagnostic test that you paid for? I'm sure they gave you a written result, didn't they?

EDIT: see this member's new thread about this issue:

Thank you for asking.
The service manager said the drivers door harness and master switch needed to be replaced. Verbally they stated that it was installed improperly and it’s now water damaged. Well the first dealership had that panel off at least 4 times so my guess is the plugs are no longer functioning properly.

You have comments in a couple of threads now; suggest you keep it all in one (the new one you started); otherwise answers and comments will be spread out.

My fix was to turn off the entry/exit seat function so that the mirrors and driver seat stay in the same position. It's not actually a "fix," but at least I'm not having to readjust and guess where my side mirror should be every time I get in the vehicle. I agree it's very frustrating on such an expensive vehicle but it's also not a big enough deal for me to invest the time and energy in a war with the dealership and/or GM. Hope you either get a resolution or make peace with the issue.

I’m going to attempt closing the other one but getting around in here still confuses me.

It’s a huge problem that GM can’t fix. Now they’ve got this engine recall so it’s becoming back burner

Just curious…My 2023 Tahoe did not start this mirror movement until I took it to the dealer for a software update. It did it when I picked it up. Has anyone else noticed this?

I had the same problem on my 2021 Tahoe at about 45k miles. I had to adjust it, like you, every time I got in to drive. I messed with the settings, memory features, etc. Eventually it just quit doing it and hasn’t happened in a long time. I’m not sure if I fixed it or it fixed itself.

I don't think I ever used the memory settings on my 21 Suburban HC.

I have the same issue but it’s on both mirrors. Check out my post on this other thread.
