Awesome build thread !
Do you have any pics of how and where the intercooler is mounted
and where the pump and lines run?
I see the coolant resevoir located on the pass side up high.
Want to kinda compare it to my edelbrock EForce SC, that I actually took off
The intercooler is located in front of the motor's coolant radiator. The intercooler's pump is located on the passenger side, just below the headlights. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the intercooler setup, looking from the top down, but there is a photo of the intercooler being attached in front of the motor's coolant radiator on post #7 in this thread.

I had a 2010 Cadillac V. Put 208,000 carefree miles on it. A very small handful at 170 mph. I had a 2011 Yukon Denali XL that I put 203,000 carefree miles on. I would love to have the V package on my 2023 Yukon Denali XL. I have lusted after the Cadillac Escalade V.

Superchargers on Yukon Denalis should be mandated by all 50 states.

Joseph, it would be much fun to also professionally rebuild the engine with all new parts at the same time. But these old SUVs lose value in a hurry. Hard to justify $12,000-15,000 dollars when the insurance company will only give you so much when someone totals it for you. They don't count the mods in the appraisals. The good news is I have an attitude that does not get in the way of doing "hold my beer and watch this" stuff.

We road trip our Denalis. Premium, as they suggest, really picks up the performance in the stock Denalis. Comes in handy on 2 lane roads. 3 out of 6 of my cars mandate premium anyway, so the cost would incidental anyway.

So, in the interest of "HMMM", anyone know what adding a Whipple does to my 2023 GMC Yukon Denal Yukon XL factory and GMC extended warranties?

This mod was one that I've yearned for, in one form or another, for over half a century. I recently had the opportunity to put a supercharger on my truck, and I took it, and I won't look back. I did not rebuild the lower half of my motor with the supercharger project, but if I were 30+ years younger, I would have rebuilt the motor myself from the bottom up, prior to adding the supercharger. I don't care if my investment exceeds my truck's market value, as I am only interested in the value that the truck gives to me. When my truck eventually rusts out, I'll look for another GMT900 Denali XL and swap in this motor.

Performance numbers, before and after? How many miles on the original cam?

If mine gets wrecked, everyone is under orders to have it towed home, not to a yard somewhere where it will be pilfered through. If I decide to even deal with the insurance, we'll buy it back, it's my truck, not theirs.
Yeah, I had to buy my car back after it got slammed by a drunk kid on a Saturday morning while parked in front of my house. The insurance company totaled it, nothing but sheet metal damage and broken taillight. So, I had to pay $600 for the insurance company to do nothing, after paying my premiums for years. Then, I had to pay to fix it up. What a scam.

No performance numbers, and the original cam had 150,000+ miles on it.
Did you do anything to the transmission? I'll admit to just doing a search for "trans" on the three pages of this thread (as of this post) and only finding references to others' transmissions.

I did see you tuned the transmission, so this is just a question about what you did, if anything, to protect your transmission from the increased power.

I purchased a brand new GM 6180 transmission and torque converter, with all of the improvements (that's why the transmission is shiny in the photos) as part of the project. The motor and transmission were both tuned under Whipple's supervision.

Super cool project, and I bet you're going to be grinning for a long time.

The only question I had is whether you went with a new JBMX torque converter, or upgraded to a better design (billet-backed?) when you screwed the engine to the gearbox?

I 'invent' reasons to go out for a drive each day. The grin is from ear to ear. :)

I'm not sure of the details on the TC, as it came with the new transmission.

Wow, you get serious when you play! Why did the heads come off? Just for new lifters and a cam change or did you change compression for the supercharged engine? I think the 6.2L is a powerful engine bone stock. Can’t imagine adding another 150 HP, it must be strong. Any detonation issues?

It was a project that waited a LONG time (55 years) to do. The team took the heads off to clean them up, install new lifters and cam and gaskets, and some other minor top end parts while the heads were off (like removing/replacing broken exhaust manifold bolts with ARP bolts, and replacing head bolts with ARP bolts.

The motor was tuned to Whipple's specifications, so there are no detonation issues. Just enormous smooth power while the supercharger sings to you.

Man, this is such an awesome build. This gives me so much hope for my Suburban. I have always wanted to a Supercharged vehicle of some sort since I was in my 30’s. I just turned 60 on Monday. Now I really want to do something like this with mine. I kinda liked the Magnuson and the Edelbrock Superchaargers for their clean look and their internal plenum.
