a rebuild perhaps, no reason to fully replace it unless it's been underwater or something crazy, there are usually local guys on craigslist, etc that do them for side money. My oil pressure and battery sections of my instrument cluster go crazy and are always different every drive. My fuel level and temperature do not. Does this mean that I need a new instrument cluster?
2005 TahoeWhat year? There are places that will repair (new stepper motors, updated lighting, etc.) your cluster, but some are limited to the 2003-2006 clusters.
Oh? I'll have to look into this. I had no ideaa rebuild perhaps, no reason to fully replace it unless it's been underwater or something crazy, there are usually local guys on craigslist, etc that do them for side money.
I've done minimal soldering but nothing with circuit boards.Based on the two gauge issues it does look like stepper motor replacement, although the oil pressure could be the sender. Hopefully someone's not already been into the cluster and messed up any circuit board traces.
I redid the stepper motors and replaced the backlighting for a neighbor's Tahoe a few years back. Not difficult if you're familiar with a pencil soldering iron and simple circuit boards.

Thank youHere's one that comes up on CL in Lakeland. Not sure where you are, and I have no personal experience with this person.

Digital Dash Solutions https://www.fixmygauges.com/ Carl will not repair your cluster for you, but you can buy one from him and send yours back to him for a lifetime warranty. This is the one that @OR VietVet and I (and many others) have used. If you don't want to buy a cluster from him, he has a recommended repair site listed: https://usdashworks.com/product-category/repair/
Lots of choices. Read reviews and have an idea of what you want done, and compare.
I've rebuilt quite a few 03-06 clusters, along with adding LED backlighting. I've done a few for some members on here actually. Done plenty of LED backlogs in AC controls and headlight switches and door switches, etc. But I have gotten away from it because it's SO time consuming to do. And the market is pretty much FLOODED with other people doing this same work for much cheaper. Could I do it that cheap? Perhaps, but I don't want to, that's why I stopped doing it. My time is worth more to me than a few extra bucks. If I'm going to spend my only off day working on clusters and doing LED conversions, then it DAMN well better be worth it. And for the most part, it wasn't. I'd rather spend my precious free time with my wife and kids.Based on the two gauge issues it does look like stepper motor replacement, although the oil pressure could be the sender. Hopefully someone's not already been into the cluster and messed up any circuit board traces.

"manage" or "mangle", big difference.https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/thr...-nbs-instrument-cluster-stepper-motors.42521/
Here's an instructional thread I made on replacing the stepper motors. As long as nobody has been messing around soldering in it prior to you, then it's fairly easy, especially if you know how to solder. But I stress that if you do NOT know how to solder, be very careful. You can manage the traces on the circuit board if you get them too hot.
Neither, I actually meant to type "damage". But mangle also works as a descriptive word. Lol!"manage" or "mangle", big difference.
