A hundred threads, but most old or airbag related. I have 109,000 miles and the rear shock bodies are pretty rusty, though no sign of leaks. One tire bounces pretty hard at 55mph, so I know somebody's dead...
Is there any source for stock or aftermarket electronic shocks, or am I forced to disable the autoride? I checked rockauto and gmpartsdirect, neither shows them available.

Curiouser.
Shock Warehouse has no database for a 2004 with rear non-air autoride shocks. WTF?
Edit; CK5 forum seemed to know this is standard on the 2500 with possible air ride on top SO.
Looks like not much option but to convert it.

i don't think fronts are the same. 1500 and 2500 have an autoride option - but other than the name, they are not the same. The rear for 2500 has leaf springs, and different mounts. I don't think the front is involved at all in a 2500, but it has been a long time.

Sometimes auto ride and auto leveling get mixed up. Check your rpo codes in your glove box. It’ll tell you what you have.

My 2000 xl slt has magnaride only on front and rear. I replaced them with KYB mono max shocks. To disable the Magnaride, you take a 20 amp (or 10 amp, its was a long time ago) fuse out of the fuse panel under the hood behind the battery. Its the only fuse on the diagram that is not only NOT listed but is actually active. If facing the fuse box from drivers side facing toward passenger fender, its in the lower right bottom i think.

Truck off, remove fuse, remove negative battery terminal , wait for like 3 minutes, reconnect without fuse. Start vehicle and there will be no error code or suspension fault. If it does then disconnect battery terminal again, wait longer. Yes i know this sounds insane but it works. In fact there was a Youtube video of someone doing it but the video is difficult to find and i found it 8 years ago.

Autoride...not Magnaride...I don't believe any of our generation trucks ever had Magnaride...it makes a difference when trying to replace parts

I give up. Who has *front* Autoride shocks, or electronic disablers? I can't find either, ended up with Rear disablers I don't need.

They usually mount on top of the struts.
Mine's a 2500, no struts. Top post shocks, the connector snaps onto the top of the shock.
I have resistors for the rear, but I found a pair of OEM autoride shocks (cost half what the truck's worth, too) it seems by reading that they would work on the front if soldered in.

What I'd really like is to find a pair of OEM Autoride front shocks, but I can't even find the OEM part number for them. Next stop is my local ****** GM dealer who will probably lie about checking national inventory.

Post up the last 8 digits of your VIN and maybe @915_Tahoe (be sure to tag him in your post) will provide part numbers and nationwide availability.
