What did you do to your 2015-2020 K2XX Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Installed some ebay special fog lights that I tinted with vinyl. A pretty light tint but it goes a long way towards matching the headlights and the old fog lights were atrocious.

It was annoying to do with the front bumper still on but I undid the bottom 5 screws in the fender liners and the 3 bolts holding the undertrays and I was able to squish my arms up and around to get it done. I found it easiest to use a 7mm socket by hand with no ratchet both to take them out and reinstall for those wanting to do this. I finished up the night with Fox coilovers in the front. I had already experienced these on the GF's 2014 Sierra but I swear they are even better on my Denali. My ride has improved so much and my magride shocks weren't even dead!I now need to source the AC Delco air-only rear shocks so I can get rid of the magride altogether.

I dropped it off with my friend and left him the new wheels and tires to combine for me. I am in love with the fitment and I don't think it will take much to make it fit well. Hopefully I'll get it back in a day or two if business is slow enough for him to replace some trans harnesses for me, install the cooler bypass and something else I already forgot.

Found a new slow leak somewhere between the rear main and the trans and it seems like transmission fluid but we don't know anything else yet. Who wants to bet I'll be putting a 10 speed in this before the end of the year?

Spent most of yesterday looking for a squeak/groan noise on the left rear of the Tahoe. Unbolted everything thing that moved, lubed the sway bar frame bushings. No luck. I see the spring itself is mounted in rubber top and bottom, only thing I didn't do anything with. This is just weird. Did grease and NeverSeize all the bolts. I've heard of the "Tahoe Squeak" and I guess that's what it is. Kind of embarrassing when going over speed bumps at entrances to places, etc.

Did clean up the spare tire and crossmembers back there too. Surprising to see frame rust on a 5 year old vehicle that's never been in snow. Special "rapid rust specification" steel in these frames?

Doing a ventilated seat de-stink today. The 18 pulls the air from the front perforations through the seat to a fan below (your stanky ass stench is getting sucked into the seat - every fart matters). A little Fabreeze Oxy on the outer side of a towel (not good on leather) while running them full blast for 20 min made a nice improvement. I also did the fresh intake on under the hood. Stink Less Goot...

Back home and I'm very pleased with the look and feel. Shockingly we trimmed almost nothing out of the fender liners and it doesn't rub at all unless you want to turn up a steep driveway at speed and then it doesn't like that very much but plenty of clearance overall. Combining the change from 285/45r22 to 285/60r20 with the new coilovers up front it is an incredibly smooth ride now.

The next thing to do is get a log and my stock tune sent off to Black Bear and get this thing tuned because it drives like an absolute dog. I've tuned some LS previously and enjoyed both the process and the results but I was so pleased with their tune on the 2014 Sierra for the GF that I'm going to let them handle it and move on to the next maintenance item instead.

I've got an 'Addendum" from my Starter replacement last week! I think that's what its called, an addendum, that means I screwed something up and realized it and fixed it!!
My Wife's Yuke wouldn't start so I swapped relays to make sure the relay was good and I looked at the fuses, all seemed to be in working order so I replaced the starter and it fixed the problem, but I created another problem inadvertently!
When I switched relays for troubleshooting purposes I put the Relay in the 'UPFIT 3 RLY' location instead of back in the 'PRK LP RLY' location. So now my parking lights were not working and I didn't know this until a friend of mine from Church told me they weren't working!!
I did a little YouTube research and a guy on there had the same issue as I did, I followed his lead and looked under the fuse box lid and discovered my problem. I put the relay back into the 'PRK LM RLY' position and BAM, the problem was fixed!

So it was my fault, but I sure as hell ain't gonna tell my wife. All she knows is that her In-House mechanic fixed her Yukon and she was happy about that!

I don't have a tahoe but I feel left out‍. So I bought more tahoe parts for my Sierra.
I got some 20" steel wheels off of a 2023 PPV tahoe. To use as the new spare tires for my 14 and 18 after I complete the 4 piston caliper brake upgrades.

Picked up my new rear shocks today. Instead of installing them I got distracted with the cargo area where the 3rd row used to be and made a template for a new floor. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be posting about how I finished both things.

Well I started the afternoon with completing the rear shocks. It was annoying to do but worth it for the ride. I test drove it to get oil change stuff and a sheet of 1/2" MDF to build the rear floor out of. I started out with an idea more like, "I'll just lay some MDF down and maybe cover it in speaker carpet" and ended up somewhere that required a lot more effort.

I started by completely ignoring the template I spent last night making. I pulled the trim panels out from the C pillar back to give me more access to trim the carpet and jute padding as well as make it easier to test fit. I tucked all 3 seatbelts under the trim panels and zip tied them for noise and I cut the two studs directly next to the outer two seatbelt mounting points which let me have all the room I wanted for a flat floor.

After some cutting, some routing and some sanding I have it fitting nice and flat and just tucked under the trim. I cut access in the rear corners where the trim meets and I routed out pockets for the two unnecessarily-tall mounting points so that the whole floor would sit perfectly level with the bottom of the wall trim like the carpet did. I didn't get a finished shot yet but here's a crappy fitment in-progress shot to give you a better idea.

It's outside air drying all the bed liner I sprayed all over it so we all have to wait for tomorrow to see the finished product.

Well, it is complete for now. My painting skills with too few cans of bed liner are showing but I got the edges sealed so the MDF won't swell if there's any water getting to it. I think I'll have to come back and carpet the top after all to really be happy long term but this will do great for the long weekend trip we have coming up tomorrow.

You can see the pockets I routed out for the two spots that are higher than everything else for no reason.

I am not sure yet what I will do to hide the two corners where the side trim meets the sill plate but that will get filled in eventually.

I actually did make a piece to go in this bare section behind driver side second row it just managed to not make it into the shot. The low frequency antenna lives in the middle and it was easier to cut off a piece from the floor and have a separate filler piece to protect and support.

Finally here's the "completed" shot. I will probably trim the lip of the weathertech mat in the back so that the carpet can lay over it flatter but otherwise I'm ready to drive this thing all over the next few days.

i am curious to know if it fits in the spare area I have a 20" 33" tire ( i need to find a 20" wheel) I would like to use as a spare but it looks like it might touch on the tail pipe

I don't know if it helps you but for reference, I have a factory 22" as a spare and it fits fine on my Yukon XL.
Factory 20 or 22 being the same overall height will fit.

Drove it 1500 miles over the weekend and managed to average 16.5mpg despite the wind. Surprisingly, it got great mileage in the mountains (18+) but once we hit the prairie and we were opened up to the wind it demolished the MPG on the way there AND back. Great vehicle so far aside from the abysmally lackadaisical transmission but @BlackBearPerf emailed my new tune on Friday so that should hopefully be resolved now.

If only they had got to me a day earlier I could have vacationed with the new tune but for some reason the GF thought it was "irresponsible" to flash the ECU in the middle of an out-of-state road trip in the middle of nowhere...
