Fuel door won’t open

2022 Yukon. Fuel door won’t release. I suspect the plunger fell off. How do I open it? I tried a plastic trim pry tool to no avail.

Tried a different trim tool and finally got it to come out. The rubber boot around the tappet is all torn up. I’m assuming I just need a new tappet?

Is it still under warranty, if so I would take it to the Dealer.

It’s not. So the lock actuator on the vehicle side doesn’t appear to click in. I pushed all the way in on it with a screwdriver and it springs back. Is that normal? If not, do I have to replace the whole housing?

Never got it fixed. Order a plunger piece for it but that did work. So just use a credit card to open it.

I ordered a fuel door shell as dealer calls it. Basically replaces the door plastic shell and spring plunger missing piece. It comes tomorrow. I’ll let you know. Was $25.
