Can door handles be interchanged?

There is a chance the the left rear door handle will work.
The entire mechanism may not work but the handle itself may be
easy to move. I'm sure GM did not make it easy to move the handle
but you can always drill out rivets etc.

I'm 95% sure you are correct. This subject was discussed on here a few years ago.
