EXACTLY! They knew they had 95,000 vehicles waiting on chips, and didn't BOTHER to relay this information to their customers. What a load of crap...seriously. I am just FUMING.

Smh. Unfreakinbelievable. Just to think when I was ordering with dealer he said 10 to 12 weeks. This was back in Dec 2021.

There is only so many times you can be fed a Water Sandwich before you snap. It’s insane how ambiguous they are and put everything back on the dealer. Dealer clearly told me last week I’m on a chip hold, meanwhile GM cx service keeps regurgitating the same excuse for the past 7 weeks.

Sorry to hear Kate. I was suspicious about the explanation you received while you didn’t have a window sticker but no way to tell what is up and what is down these days. Seems like not having a WS is a good (if not, only) indicator to know if anyones truck is likely affected by this chip hold or not.

Hmmm I can't see GM shutting down production of the 2023s to deal with the backlog of trucks. That would be a 180 from their "build shy" strategy. Then again imagine shipping out 2023 Tahoe and Yukons while 2022 orders are sitting on a GM overflow lot. You will really burn some relationships with customers. Its going to be interesting what happens over the next couple of months. We know it is in GMs interest to get their inventory out; they can't book revenue until they do so.
That is the only advantage we have right now: its all about the stock price and quarterly performance.
They do shut down for (minor) retooling between '22 and '23, so they are probably just saying that to make people feel better. Hopefully during the model year changeover they can focus more on retrofitting our trucks, assuming they have the chips to do so. Maybe some of us will see some movement over the next couple weeks.

Have you re-contacted the Exec Relations team after being given this info...so sorry @kate_t it is crazy how long you have been waiting.
2021 GM trucks and SUVs were hitting the lots into the first quarter of this year while 2022s had been already been delivered for months...so yeah, I can see it happening - it's pretty much a given at this point. As an economy, we're still at a point where the majority of people will accept what would generally be considered unacceptable customer service in order to get a new vehicle
Wow... I'm new to this forum and have just caught up on some of what's going on. It would seem I'm in a rather large group of frustrated folks. It's always nice to have company.
That said, my situation is approaching dire...
I put down my deposit and placed the order 13 months ago in early June 2021. I think that makes mine one of the older orders on here. It was finally built on 6/13/2022 (12+ months later), and it's sat in TX ever since. Normally, I'm all about patiently waiting, but come on. Not to mention on 6/18 they told me it shipped so I sold my truck (we were a single vehicle family with 3 foster kids, so yes, we are vehicle-less)... so to say this is becoming inconvenient is a gross understatement.

They aren't going to do anything. Dealer called me to tell me mine is on a list showing as missing parts, my exec person called me the next day and was adamant that my vehicle is complete just waiting on shipping. After I told her what the dealer told me she didn't know what to say so there was awkward silence for about 20 seconds. Then I turned the heat up and she just started reciting their usual BS. The exec team is useless, I have received more info from chat.
Jack Cooper links and all other external sources of tracking have been shut down. Sadly, you're at the mercy of the Chevy/GMC chat folks and your dealer.
unfortunately your dealer is about the only one that can assist....without being too crude, I'd ask for an update and make sure you understand exactly what you're being told...leave nothing to interpretation. It's been shipped? Where has it been shipped to...? Is it being shipped to another location/terminal where it has to wait for another ride before its next destination or is it on a truck headed to the dealership?
you could probably scan a couple forums for 30 minutes and more than likely have more knowledge about GM's ordering/production/shipping processes than the salesman you're working with

At this point should we all just order 2023 model? This is ridiculous. Dealer and chat cannot provide me with any relevant info. No vin, no location (arlington vs midlothian), no window sticker and no word on whether I'm waiting for chips or just shipping delays. I did a pre trade in agreement. Gave dealership my vehicle December 2021, they held the equity I have on it and I've been waiting for this Tahoe since. 6 months without a vehicle puts a strain on my wife's car and just on daily life in general.

You really think 2023 Models will be without these shortages too?
I just read some articles about overall semiconductor industry, and it is not looking good in general for semiconductor supply. If your vehicle is built, and waiting for chips/modules, you are probably on the short track to getting it vs. starting over at the beginning of the process.
If your dealer is willing to place a 23 order for you, and see which one comes first, I would say take that shot.
I work in an industry that uses a lot of electronic parts, and I can assure you, the issues are real, we are scrambling all over the place to get parts...Net, I know it is frustrating, but it is hitting the whole industry, and other industries too...that said, if you can stumble on one, buy it...even if it takes you to another brand...in there still remains a very limited amount of new vehicles on the lots in my neck of the woods.

Hang in @kate_t you have made it this long...hopefully/maybe soon???
Except they continued to build and ship plenty of trucks from late-May/June through now. GM is still waiting on chip commitments from their suppliers for those of us built in the late-March through May time frames, because they chose to continue building and shipping vehicles instead of shutting down completely to wait on parts to complete our trucks. People with '23 orders are already getting late July production weeks, which means there's a good chance we'll take delivery in September before any of these rotting trucks are even pulled for retrofit (then tack on another month of shipping). This is why I placed a '23 order with my dealership and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get picked up with their next allocation round.
