My latest Adventure, update 7/11/21

[Rocket Man]

Is a small building, I would say 20x15. I think the previous owners used it for keeping some animals or feed or such. The front is only about 6' tall more of a shed than real "building".


The other with the fence around is/was a dog kennel with 5 completely separate runs with inside and outside access, actually was pretty not bad originally.

Must have been a dog ******* living there. Holy crap can’t say b r e e d e r here. Wtf?

so i guess it has been a bit since an update, so here goes!


we had been talking about getting into some magnet fishing and i finally got some gear.

They had several small animals at one point. Not sure if they had a puppy farm or not.

nope so far just boat launches (the docks at them when possible), and public access to lakes and rivers so far. although we have a buddy with a boat and some magnets and we have talked about doing some with them .

most of the good stuff so far has come from a spot where an old bridge collapsed and the road is closed, the river near a dam (so far just down stream of it, although we are looking to do some "behind" where the dam was/is). where we found the other magnet and flag was at the public boat launch in the channel that heads out to lake michigan.


i am quite looking forward to trying the machines ( good chance at the bobcat in the pic as well as the dozer he has, and if i snag my cdl probably do some hauling/loading for him also.

so we went fishing again and got what i suspect will be one of the best days i bet we will get. we didnt get much really, but we did get some good stuff.

turns out to be a brute magnetics 1,500lb single sided magnent. mine is a kratos 950 clamp.

not saying that i dont, i just try to stay out of politics esp on a car page. personally i dont like any of them as i think they are all corrupt, just some worse than others.

i am also of a mind that the only reason we are a red/blue two party system is because people are to afraid and stuck on themselves to vote outside the box. i want them to not be a piece of $hit, not dedicated to a color or party.

so got some more things done. changed the valve cover on the astra, mostly as the pcv is in the cover much like our trucks and this thing has been using oil and leaving the occasional cloud.

pretty easy job. didnt look too bad inside, a little buildup, but nothing i am going to get to bent out of shape over. best part is it dont seem to be smoking anymore, and so far the oil consumption is at a minimum drastically reduced.

also decided to take a look at the third brake light as it has been out as long as we have had it and it gives a warning every time.

found some very bad connection at the board, and the printed was peeling off, so basically it is junk.

i figured i would make my own stuff work and raided the extras stuff.

all was fine till a couple days later and i came out in the dark and noticed that the lights were on very dim, so i disconnected them for now.


got some 3k led fogs.

so got a few things done, got the snow tires off the tahoe, wasnt in a big hurry but found some used bfg that i felt ok paying for, and got them put on some extra wheels i had picked up.



be several posts today to show progress on a couple projects as of late.

so the excavator was kinda suddenly avalible and dropped of so i got to spend a couple of days learning and becoming comfortable with the machine.

this little spot was the crash course area that we spent about 15 min the night it was dropped off.

this is where the kennel was and just to the left was the other little building.

the wife even hopped in for most of a day and did some learning/playing with it.. even did a pretty good job!!!

thought i was gonna get it stuck, sank far enough that the truss brace underneeth left marks.. but i was able to back out and backfilled and smoothed over as i went out.

and to jump back a little with the camera and neighbor issue, the survey map came back and boy is there some interesting things there!! and he gonna be not happy!!!




ok, so here is a county map that shows the basic layout of our property. it is a fat "T" shape. the yellow is ours,

here is a google map style of the same thing. and you can see the property lines for the much smaller lots beside us.

now here is part of the surveyors, note the line that says fence and the distance behind the pole barn. the distance they are using is to the "back" of the fence. for the width of both of the lots to the right. each of those lots has a legal description of .41 acre ea. so in total they are on nearly an acre that is not theirs. this will be changing soon ( waiting for the stakes to be put in and the legal end before pushing. )



side note the 150x100 to the left side is where we intend to have mother in law, and will probably be pushed to 200x100 to make it deeper to encompass the area labeled dog kennel, as it is all gone, but i have left the concrete. hoping to use that as a patio type for chairs and such. but also want to make it so that if/when gets sold/rented or whatever that whoever gets it will have acess to use it without legal issue.

almost forgot i put some led's in the denali, high beam is halogen for now. planning on getting some adapter plates to put some hid projectors in the low beam and will swap the led to the high beam.

I know you're having the surveyor out before you take any action with the neighbors, and that's wise. Don't count on the aerial photos and the lot lines being accurate in these online represenation. Most of the (official) online sites like this have disclaimers about accuracy. It will be interesting to see what the "survey says!"
